Describe your creative process.
Preparation - I speak to my client and dig deep to find out what they want to achieve from the project. Then comes the gathering of images, copy, etc.
Incubation - This is the mystical part of the process where I place all of the gathered elements onto the digital page, while my subconscious is secretly at work. (Ninja!)
Illumination - While I'm questioning my decision to become a designer and moving the pieces around like a puzzle, creativity kicks in and a lightbulb appears above my head!
Implementation - This is when the idea that has been prepared and incubated begins to see the light of day. It's hard to stop me now, I'm a creative freight train heading for its final destination. Choo Choo!.... (The client also receives a proof of their design).
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
It depends on the project, so the details will be established when we have a chat. I may ask for any existing logos, images, content / typefaces, copy, colour schemes, or pantone references. Also a design brief if you're a larger company, or a rough outline of what you'd like to achieve if you're Bob the gardener from down the road.
What do you love most about your job?
I love to design websites that transform peoples businesses. When I hear how sucessful someones new site has been it makes my job worthwhile!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I run my business to allow me the freedom to spend my days being creative, and to be in control of my own destiny.
