We did the spa evening as a couple. The place is great, staff is friendly and the food is good. I recommend the honey pudding as a dessert and tomato mozarella toast as a starter. You'll need to start dining before 8:30pm if you want to be done at 9:30pm like indicated in the schedule of the spa evening, which we hadn't planned for and so we had to leave a bit in a rush as we had to get back home on time. It smelled a bit like a farm in the outdoor spa for some reason, which is a slight minus, but it wasn't too much of a problem. More...

Went to my son's wedding which we had a good time because we made that time good. The food service was good. What lets the place down is that signage could be much better if you didn't have satellite navigation to find the place. On the grounds same again just make the signage stand out much better it would save people getting confused.ONE THING I DIND UNFAIR TO LADIES there is no where in your manual that LADIES can't wear bathrobe to breakfast after getting makeup done but not ready to get dressed then your staff choosing who they turn away because not all staff implement that procedure if it is something to follow put it in your manual. And the other thing you need to put up signs restricting speed down to 10 mph because one of your member of staff was doing roughly doing 25mph and nearly smashed into my car as I was about to leave and they should know better than anybody else. The spa was really relaxing and tranquil, I had a facial by Morgan who was really lovely and helpful in going the extra mile. Breakfast was also really nice, we had access to hot drinks, fresh juices, continental breakfast and a choice of select hot meals too.||Would definitely return 🤍 More...

We have been waiting for a very special occasion to come to Middleton as it has been on our bucket list for a long while now. However, it ended up being quite a disappointing birthday trip, saved by how lovely the staff are and how pretty the spa is.The hotel and grounds are gorgeous but confusing! We weren’t sure where to go when we arrived (the spa isn’t very well signposted, neither is the reception). The spa is so beautiful and all the staff were lovely. Our treatments were great, my masseuse Brittany was wonderful and really made the experience. The facilities were all beautiful, however the steam room smelt of mould. I stayed in there for a little while but ended up leaving because of how strong the smell was. My partner didn’t pick up on it so I didn’t mention anything and chalked it up to a sensitive nose but I think it’s worth noting. The hot tub was also very murky which was a bit off putting. The pool was gorgeous but they needed more deck chairs around it as it was quite a bun fight for them. However, our main gripe was with the food. The spa package was so expensive (£170 pp for spa access and a 45 minute treatment with lunch) so we were expecting a lot. The food was really disappointing, the portion sizes were ridiculously small and the food was so tasteless. My chicken sandwich had nothing but mustard a bit of lettuce and a chicken breast on it. There was so much mustard I couldn’t eat it!For our actual stay, we ended up getting a room we didn’t book. My partner booked the dairy family room (sleeps 4 as it was the only one left). We were okay with this as it meant having a larger room and the photos of it were lovely. However, the room we were given was just a normal dairy room (sleeps 2) which we didn’t realise until we got to the room as reception never mentioned anything. We didn’t bother complaining as it wasn’t an issue as there was only two of us and we only had an hour before dinner. However it was very strange to be given a room we didn’t book without any explanation. The room was ok, we weren’t wowed by it.We then ate at the Forge restaurant and had the 10 course tasting menu which was fabulous and absolutely worth a visit! The service was lovely again, all the staff were fab.The breakfast was included in or stay, but we were given no details about this on check in so had to go to reception in the morning and ask about where it was etc. The breakfast itself was really disappointing. The continental options were pretty rubbish, limited and nothing special. The hot options were the main let down with very basic options and thought put into them (see the photo the poached eggs on unbuttered cheap white toast). If you wanted any coffee other than the filtered stuff, that would cost you an extra £4.50 a pop. The breakfast did not match up to the lovely photos that Middleton post on their Instagram of pancakes and fresh rhubarb. Instead it was cheap white bread with a few eggs slapped on and continental options like waffles bought from the shop.Overall, the spa lunch and breakfast really let the stay down as it felt like the hotel are really trying to cut corners and save money. Which for the price of it is unacceptable. Hotels in the area at similar price points (when you include the spa package) are much better value for money and don’t make you feel like theyre cutting corners. More...

Stayed at the Middleton Lodge in Potting Shed 2 on Friday the 25th due to a wedding I attended. I would give the room a 5* review, however, upon arrival we were quite rudely greeted by a staff member who explained that if the gardener needs access we may need to move our car, which was outside the room in the designated space (or what we thought). Paying £295 a night for a room, you’d expect a parking space without guilt of parking outside it. In addition, the lock on the door was jammed so took a few attempts to get into the room.Bar this, the room was beautiful. Very clean, cottage relaxing vibes.Service was outstanding by the ladies at breakfast. Especially a lady (cannot remember her name, but she had a fishtail plait). This lady took care of ensuring my egg was well cooked due to my pregnancy dietary requirements, and it was cooked perfectly. We will stay again.Thank you More...

I've photographed a number of weddings at Middleton Lodge Estate over the years and it never disappoints. Its a great place for an outdoor wedding. Its walled garden, beautiful stone buildings, and peaceful countryside surroundings offer a setting that feels private and special. The walled garden is the perfect spot for saying your vows, surrounded by greenery and flowers. The Fig House, with its glass doors leading to the garden, add a nice mix of indoor and outdoor space, making it easy for guests to enjoy the best of both.I would highly recommend Middleton Lodge as one the Northeast's finest wedding venues.Images by @photography_34 on Instagram More...

We stayed at Diary cottage, which is rated one of the most romantic of them all. Whilst we were relaxing by the fire, we were horrified to find over a hundred ants on the floor beneath us and crawling up our legs. We raised this with reception the next morning, who merely responded ‘that’s not what you want is it’ and did not offer any apology. Whilst we accept staying in an area surrounded by woodland you can expect creatures come with the environment, but what we found hugely disappointing was the response; the price point that is paid for the “luxury experience”, should extend to guest care. We certainly felt the attitude was - you’ve stayed now, you're leaving, we are not interested. Following this, we wrote to Middleton Lodge the following morning detailing how upset we were by their lack of customer care. We have received no response from them, which is deeply disappointing and will certainly be a negative if we ever consider returning or recommending the stay. More...

There aren’t too many facilities there and a couple of hours is probably enough I would say. But it’s so peaceful and a lovely place to sit and relax. As we went on an evening the only downside was the temperature of the pool outside. We got told the pool was 30 degrees and when we got in it we were shivering because it was that cold! The steam coming off of it indicated it was hot even though it wasn’t. Definitely not 30 degrees. Even the hot tub could have been a lot hotter, the longer you sat in it is when it started to feel cold. But overall had a good experience and would still return again :)) More...

Gorgeous room, lovely neutral decor and feature bed with bath in the bedroom. Also a shower room with sink and toilet. Plently of lovely fluffy towels, face cloths, foot mats and toiletries. Robes and slippers provided too. Be aware the tiled shower room floor is extremely slippy when it's wet. ||Outdoor hot tub for private use is absolutley fabulous even on a very cold day but be aware there are workmen in the garden walking past. There's a bistro style table and chairs and real candles. We really enjoyed this part of our stay and was the reason we booked this room. ||The room is supposed to have a safe but after searching for it contacted reception to be told it had been broken and they are waiting for a new one to be fitted.||The television is supoosed to receive Sky but we could only get BBC1 and a screen saying weak or no signal. Couldn't get an answer on phone to receprion at 8.45pm to ask advice, tried numerous times up til 9pm and then watched something on my personal tablet. so mentioned the issue at check out.||The food in the Coach House restaurant was of a high quality. I had sirloin steak and carrot cake. My partner had lamb ragu and rhubarb mille fleur. However the first main courses they brought were not our order and were placed down in front of us and the waiter had to be called back to correct the mistake. Small error that shouldn't have happened. I noted that the 12.5% service charge wasn't added to the bill when I checked out.| I arranged for breakfast in the room and had it delivered in a lovely wooden box. Again the food quality was of a very high standard and very enjoyable. ||We enjoyed our stay immensely and didn't let the few niggles spoil a birthday treat. We would return in the future as its a lovely relaxing retreat close to home. The staff are friendly and helpful. ||This is a fairly new room to the collection and not many photos online so I've added a couple to this review for a sneak preview if like me you want to see in advance. Very much looking forward to staying at this beautiful venue for a wedding. Booked a room ( not cheap £345) but venue looks stunning and considering this as a treat. Wedding starts at 2pm and we are travelling up from Oxfordshire a 4+ hour drive. Check in isn’t until 3pm so mid wedding. I was told we can drop our bags and they would take to our room. Fabulous.. I asked if there was a room we could use to change for the wedding. ( it’s black tie so I’m not going to travel for over 4 hours in black tie get up!!) was told No and offered a downstairs toilet for us to change in!!! I responded to say you have a beautiful spa on site? Surely we could use the changing facilities to change for the wedding? No response.. I chased.. no response.. expected more from a luxury venue that’s far from cheap. Now having to look at booking a travel lodge nearby ( additional cost ) to simply get ready for the wedding..will then be arriving at the venue in full black tie lugging bags to reception. Not quite the luxury or relaxing start to a wonderful stay/wedding. Let’s hope the rest of the stay, food and service live up to the expectations as we are not off to the best start. I had a wonderful spa experience at Forest Spa and a decent stay at the lodge yesterday. I really wish I could give the estate a 5 star rating, but there were a handful of things that just didn’t quite meet the mark. For starters, it was very confusing how to get to the spa - signage definitely needs to be increased. Once in the spa, the lockers are located in the waiting/dining room which was odd in my opinion (I’ve been to a ton of spas and never seen this before). The staff were extremely friendly and my massage/scrub/facial session was amazing, which is why I wish I could give them 5 stars. For those that come for a spa day, you preselect your lunch choices at check in. It was clear the snacks were a separate charge, but the form made it appear as though the dessert was part of the package. At checkout, I was surprised that I was being charged 9 quid for a small scoop (seemed like half a scoop honestly) of sorbet with a little bit of granola. Pretty absurd. As for the lodge itself, check in was extremely confusing as it was hard to find the reception desk in the dark (since it gets dark around 4pm now) and then once checked in, they give you a map and leave you to find your room on the massive property (not just one central building). After lugging my bags to the reception desk (most of the way was gravel so had to carry my suitcase), I had to lug my bags back to where I started and ended up going in circles trying to find my room in the dark since there was little signage or help available. I ended up having to go back to reception and confirm where I needed to go and eventually found my way. This definitely put a damper on my spa day and completely reversed the relaxation I experienced earlier. Once in my room, the shower looked like an accessible room type shower (even though it was definitely not an accessible room since on the second floor with no elevator) with no door or barrier dividing the shower floor from the rest of the floor and I knew that was going to be interesting - I was in fact right once taking a shower. The bathroom floor was soaking wet after my shower, but thankfully it was only me staying in the room so I was able to use the extra towels provided for a second guest to mop up the water. The room was spacious and cute and the bed comfy, however, the pillows had a weird smell to them that almost made me think they weren’t clean. Dinner at the Coach House was nice, however, I paid 50 quid for a drink, water (that I didn’t ask for) and a main dish - seemed excessive, but I guess that’s what you get when staying at a place like this. Overall, the staff and service I received at the spa, lodge and restaurant were all fantastic. Just really wish the estate was able to meet the mark on all other areas. More...

Staff were attentive and went above and beyond for my daughter who is a fussy eater. Our room was absolutely immaculate and the hot tub was a real treat. We was lucky enough to have mild weather during the stay so we took advantage of this in the evening. In the morning all you'll hear are birds singing. We even had a little visit from a Robin. Dairy room 1 offers a large bed, dressing table, wet room shower and a roll top bath and is situated right beside the spa and the forge restaurant. A short gravel walk lit by warm evening lights will take you to the coach house where you'll be met by friendly staff who will take you're coat before being seated. The food here is exceptional. There's a large selection of drink available, served in the correct glasses, cold and refreshing. Everywhere you look at Middleton Lodge there are beautiful touches, from decor, right down to the decorative flower toilet roll. The spa is fantastic. I highly recommend the Indian head massage. The pool area is beautiful at night. The tea and frozen grapes are a nice little touch and much needed afterwards.
