Review of Image Homes and Darren Glancy – A Costly Mistake

I hired Image Homes for a house renovation project, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst decisions I’ve made in recent times.

From the beginning, the team appeared as a family-run business—a father and son—which gave the impression of a reputable company. I later discovered that Darren Glancy, who took the lead on the project, was not officially part of Image Homes. Despite this, he presented himself as an expert builder with over 30 years of experience and claimed he could handle every aspect of the renovation. He discouraged the use of any other contractors and insisted he could procure materials like tiles, a wardrobe, and a canopy for me at better prices. I trusted him and paid him I paid Darren Glancy £5,500 for these items.

This turned out to be fraudulent. The items were either never delivered, forcing my family to move into a house without proper flooring. I eventually had to repurchase new tiles out of pocket. He permanently switched off his phone and disappeared.

When I contacted Image Homes, they distanced themselves from Darren Glancy, claiming he was just a worker they had no control over and could no longer contact.

The delays were frustrating, and to make matters worse, the team nearly damaged a brand-new Wren kitchen I had purchased. They failed to install it according to the provided layout, blaming Wren for the design. Darren insisted on making corrections which i will have to pay him an extra fee, that weren't needed. After five days of back and forth, I hired professional installers who fitted the kitchen in less than six hours without any issues.

Overall, the experience was stressful, costly, and disappointing. I would advise others to be extremely cautious when dealing with Image Homes and avoid working with Darren Glancy under any circumstances. More...
