The builders were highly professional and impressively kept the project on schedule and within budget. Home Shape did a superb job managing the project and promptly resolving any minor issues that arose during the process.
Our daily lives were minimally impacted as the builders utilized the rear entrance and avoided disturbing the bulk of the house, which helped keep any mess to a minimum. Our living area was sealed off, the driveway had a protective layer, and they were installing any required protection as required.
The finished product exceeded our expectations and was offered at a competitive price, so we would not hesitate to recommend Home Shape to others.

Home Shape Ltd completed quite complex extension on our kitchen last year, which they turned around in record time. Excellent and straightforward service from initial consultation through to completion of build. We asked three companies to quote for our project, we chose companies that were working locally and looked suitable for our project. We were sent a very detailed quote with prices and pictures for all options and a plan of what would happen each week and a schedule of when payments would be due. Home Shape quote was in the middle, but it was the most detailed and we felt they would provide the best service. All the tradesmen on the site were skilled at their respective jobs and well-mannered. They worked solidly, kept the site clean and were sensitive to our neighbours and surroundings. Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
1. Planning Permission:
Most garage conversions fall under Permitted Development, but listed buildings or significant changes may require approval.
2. Building Regulations:
Ensure compliance with Building Regulations for structure, insulation, ventilation, and fire safety.
3. Design & Planning:
Plan the new layout, including insulation, windows, and access.
4. Structural Work:
Convert the existing garage structure by reinforcing floors, insulating walls, and installing proper ventilation.
5. Windows & Doors:
Install windows or doors to allow natural light and provide access.
6. Utility Connections:
Set up electrical wiring, plumbing, and heating (if necessary).
7. Finishing Touches:
Install internal walls, floors, and finish with plastering, painting, and flooring.
8. Inspection & Approval:

How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
To check if a loft is suitable for conversion, measure the head height (at least 2m is ideal), assess the roof structure (traditional rafters are easier to convert), and ensure sufficient floor space (typically 5.5m x 7.5m). Check if stairs can be installed, the floor can bear extra weight, and ventilation and lighting can be added. Building regulations and potential planning permission must also be considered. Consulting a professional is recommended for accurate evaluation.

Generally the building process can take between 10 to 12 weeks. You must allow additional month before start to deal with local authorities and produce all relevant documents. Please keep in mind some advanced and large loft conversions might take even 18 weeks or more.

What inspired you to start your own business?
We started from bathroom fittings in 2006, then into kitchen fitting in 2007. Between 2008 and and 2011 we were getting enquiries from our bathroom/kitchen customers about lofts and extensions. We became proficient in this area over the years and expanded our contacts. Finally in 2012 we decided to form a company solely focused on extensions and lofts.
