I have now worked for GoodOaks homecare for just over 6 years. Everybody from the office team and the care professionals are so welcoming, friendly and approachable. Clients who I care for always speak highly of the care they receive from the team. From picking up a loaf of bread so someone gets their much loved toast, to the branch team making last minute rota changes so I can attend a family event. I couldn’t ask for a better employer. The training programmes created are great, from food and nutrition, end of life care,,to intense dementia training where we get a slight insight into how our dementia clients experience daily life. Each and every member of staff follows the GoodOaks PRIDE values, most of the time without even thinking about it. It’s nice to be treated as a person and not a number. More...

In my role as Operations Director at GoodOaks Homecare, I’ve had the chance to see first-hand just how life-changing good care can be—for clients, their families, and the care professionals who deliver it. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with our teams providing homecare, live-in care, and dementia support, and I continue to be inspired by the level of commitment and compassion they bring to their roles. This isn’t just a job for most people here—it’s something they truly care about. And that shows in the relationships they build and the trust they earn. Dementia care, in particular, is something close to my heart. We work with many clients living with dementia, and I’ve seen how the right support—delivered with patience, understanding, and dignity—can make such a difference, not only for the person themselves but for their loved ones too. It’s not always easy work, but it’s incredibly meaningful. What I appreciate most about GoodOaks is the culture we’ve built. It’s supportive, open, and always striving to do better. There’s a strong sense of shared purpose, and we’re constantly learning and improving, both individually and as a team. I feel genuinely proud to be part of GoodOaks. It’s a place where people care—about their work, about each other, and most importantly, about doing the right thing for our clients. More...

Contacted Good Oaks with a view to exploring home care needs for a parent, which is not the easiest of tasks. I was immediately impressed by the service that I received. The consultant was very patient and understanding, and able to provide a variety of different options and packages to consider. I didn't feel under any pressure to make any decisions and felt comfortable to take the information away to consider. Further questions and queries were responded to quickly, I couldn't rate the communication high enough. Would definitely recommend Good Oaks to anyone considering home care for a relative. More...

I am writing this review on my short but recent experience with Good Oaks. Unfortunately I was not able to complete the full recruitment process as I had unexpected commitments which meant I couldn't start work with them, but the short time that I was there I was impressed. The staff are very friendly and it definitely had a homely feel about the place. The training was relevant and interesting and I love the fact that the company has grown from just two men, wanting to achieve higher standards for the elderly needing care and the staff that support them. It could be a good caring company if it wasn't for the constant staff shortages and pressure on staff to do overtime. Exhausted people can not deliver good quality care.

As an employee, I can speak from personal experience about this company & having worked for other care providers, I can say hands down they are the best in the business. My last company promised the earth & delivered nothing. Good Oaks place great importance in their staff & this reflects not only in the great rates of pay & fab employment package, but in the endless support they offer staff..both professionally & personally.. without question. I work for Good Oaks & I'm damn proud of our team. I would recommend them in a heartbeat, to prospective new clients & staff alike. More...

What do you love most about your job?
Meeting new people and benefiting from helping people in the local community. All the GoodOaks team are local to the area and are passionate about the care they provide.
I still enjoy meeting people and providing care myself, we are a family run business with both my daughter and husband having active involvement.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started as a care worker many years ago and grew into management positions. Having been in care now for more than 20 years I am passionate about providing good quality care.
My mother receives the support of care workers so I do understand how important it is to have the right care team in place who not only provide care but are passionate and dedicated to their roles
Why should our clients choose you?
We are in homecare with the sole purpose of wanting to make a difference by providing the best possible care and support allowing for an independent life from your own home.
We know choosing the right care is a big decision and, for many, the worry of getting the right care for themselves or their loved ones is a real issue. We know it is because we personally struggled to find the right care agency for our elderly grandparents.
We can be relied on to support you to continue living a high-quality, independent life from your own home.
Not only that we want to be the best employer of care staff by providing quality training, respect and work-life balance.
Our aspiration is for GoodOaks Southampton to be the homecare company of choice for both the community and care givers.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Online and remote assessments and reviews can be completed if this is your preference.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
All good care companies will be following Public Health England’s guidance on domiciliary care, which includes:
Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, aprons and masks, and advice on how to safely put on and take off this PPE;
Following hand-hygiene guidance and protocols
No team meetings to limit potential infections
Extra cleaning of shared and frequently used surfaces
Covid-19 Risk Assessments
We, however, believe we can go further than this guidance, and are proud that our Covid-Secure Standard goes further than PHE guidance and the standard home care response to Covid.
This Standard has been developed in consultation with specialists from NHS 111, and District Nurses to ensure a clinical basis for our extra interventions.
Giving you and your loved-ones peace of mind.
Everything about Personal Care is tailored around you – because Good Oaks is actively involved in managing your care, carers follow a comprehensive care plan based around you, your needs and wishes. We always ensure that every individual receiving personal care is treated with the utmost respect and receives support in a dignified manner. Our care teams will always ensure the best possible care services for you or your loved one.
Personal Care can include help with:
Washing, showers and baths
Applying creams and lotions as prescribed
Oral hygiene
Grooming and shaving
Continence care, such as support with catheters, commodes, incontinence pads.
Hair care and applying make-up
For many of our Clients, all that is required is an extra helping hand around the house to enable them to remain living comfortably and independently.
Our household and domestic services include:
General household cleaning
Housekeep duties e.g. changing bed linen
Laundry and ironing
Shopping for weekly groceries
Support with meal planning and preparation
Prescription collection
Assistance with pets
Companionship Carers help clients who are feeling lonely or worried about being home alone, or are struggling with cooking, cleaning, and other household duties.
For those whose independence is important to them, Companionship Carers offer peace of mind, so you can keep living the life you want, knowing there is always back-up on hand if needed.
The one-to-one nature of live-in care means that real, lasting and enabling relationships can form between you and your Carer. They can help not only with the daily basics, but the little things that allow you to start loving being at home again. This could be trips out, visiting friends or loved ones, or helping you to do the hobbies you used to enjoy.
Companionship carers know when they’re needed and when they are not, so are as involved as little or as much as required.
Companionship carers can be organised in response to an illness, fall, hospital stay or other event, and can either be temporary or more permanent.
Companionship Carers can help with:
Providing company and reassurance
Cooking healthy home cooked meals
Completing general household duties, including laundry
Looking after pets
Ensuring the property is kept safe ie. locking doors and windows and ensuring electrical appliances and gas is turned off
