What makes a great website?
Easy to use websites lead to a greater user experience, which could lead to an increase in productivity and sales. A company website should be easy for the visitor to navigate, giving a clear description about the business, what services or products are on offer, and which contact details to use should they wish to get in touch.
A company website should also recognise its audience, as well as representing your company ethos.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What exactly do you want to achieve, what is your end result?
What is your company, and what products or services do you offer?
Do you have any thoughts/ideas/colours you would like to use. Sometimes a mood boards helps to form ideas.
Do you have an existing logo/website?
Describe your creative process.
I will discuss the project with the client to find out what exactly what they want to see, and we will determine how best to get them there.
I will create some designs based on the brief, and take into consideration the audience, message and tone of the company. I will consult with the client throughout the design process and make as many changes as necessary.
After successful launch of a website, I will make sure that the client knows how to edit and update as required…or I can provide that service too for an additional charge.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
The name of the company that you want to be known by.
Links to any existing company website or social media pages to get a background and feel for the business.
A clear objective on what they want i.e. company website, logo, business card design, flyers, stationery etc
Any design ideas that you may have regarding colours, graphics etc
If looking for a website, what pages do you require.
You will also be responsible for providing content in the form of text, images and product information.
What do you love most about your job?
Being creative! I love when an idea forms in your head at the most random times, I love the creative process that brings that design together, and I love the satisfaction of seeing the end result. I also love working with people and playing a part in creating their brand.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I worked for 10 years in education and was very passionate about my job which I loved. I then moved into the construction industry (as you do) where I stayed for over 13 years. Unfortunately the dynamics changed and latterly the work environment became pretty toxic. So at almost 50 years of age I decided to leave that employment, I wanted to feel passionate about my job again.
I have always loved design as a hobby, so I took the opportunity to start my own business and do what I love every day.
Why should our clients choose you?
I currently use Squarespace as a platform for creating professional websites. Once I complete my coding course I hope to provide Wordpress sites too, but Squarespace offers everything you need. This also allows me to keep the costs down compared to creating a bespoke website, which is perfect for small or new businesses.
I'm a real person, not a techy nerd. I don't know the whole industry and I'm still learning code, but I love design and I'm good at what I do.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Due to the type of work that I do, everything is online. However I will also offer to discuss a project either via phone, video call or email. If they are local to me I can arrange to meet in person.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Mostly I am never in physical contact with my customers, however when I do meet in person it is always at their chosen location and I wear a mask. I also test myself regularly before meeting with a client.
Logo Creation
I believe that good design is good business, and your company logo will be the voice of your business moving forward.
Collaboration is key and I will create a company logo that reflects the ethos and values of your business as well as the products or services that you offer.
Website
A company website will add credibility to your business and will help to boost your online profile.
I have been creating professional websites using the Squarespace platform which has an easy to use content management system, allowing you to take control of your website and implement any changes as your company grows.
I will register a domain name, Squarespace hosting and subscription and a company email address if required. I will also advise you on how to edit and update your website or I can do this for you as and when required.
Branding
We offer a design service to ensure your brand best represents who you are. This can range from designing business cards and stationery, menus, a company website and social media templates that will all reinforce your company brand.
We can also design promotional flyers, brochures, banners, posters and leaflets for you to use digitally or to send away for printing.
