We are very pleased with David’s work. The garden was a building site after rear and front extension work. With his artistic flair he has managed to design and create a living space transforming a dull rectangular area to a place of real interest and colour and as summer approaches a scented area too from the choice of his plants he has included.
He covered everything we asked of him within his brief, which included insect and bird friendly with a requirement for very low maintenance and to source all products including a water feature at the front and rear. The contractor’s David used were also extremely efficient and I would not hesitate in recommending him and the team to undertake any work you may require.

My name is David West Beale and I’m founder of Flowerstone and Member of The Society of Garden Designers (MSGD).
My passion is creating unique and beautiful gardens and outdoor spaces. I’ve worked in design, horticulture and landscaping for more than twenty years – creating schemes for everything from courtyard gardens to country estates, flower shows to TV shows..
Garden Design
Designing a garden is a journey. It begins with a conversation about your aspirations. We listen carefully because every conversation is unique. We want to create a vision that works for you in the best possible way. We call this conversation the Design Brief.
Next we complete the Garden Survey, measuring the existing space in three dimensions. We record a host of detail including existing features, aspect, micro climate, soil type & drainage. This information is used to create a scale 2D Survey Plan.
Working with the Design Brief, we now lay down our creative ideas onto the Survey Plan to prepare a presentation drawing of our design. This is accompanied by a photo style board and 3D perspective drawing, together with samples of materials featuring in the design. We meet with you to review & discuss our design ideas and budget figures for the build. This is the Design Concept.
Once we have accommodated any changes you may wish to make to the Design Concept, we prepare the final Master Plan Drawing. This drawing details all of the built & natural elements of your scheme. It forms a blue print for installation of the new garden and for finalising costings. This concludes the Design Process. If you wish we can also deliver your new Garden Build through to completion..

Some of our landscape projects are large, others are smaller. Some are simple, others are complex and involve many specialist trades and craftspeople to transform design vision into reality.
Whichever scenario, Flowerstone Design & Build ensures the highest standards of construction and planting are delivered on budget and faithfully to the design.
Our comprehensive service includes our full design process followed by supply and installation to the final agreed design at a fixed price. We take care of everything, from putting together a specialist installation team, to procurement of all specialist machinery, disposal, plants, materials, Project Management & Health & Safety. All design specifications and construction drawings required by the installation team are provided by us as part of our Flowerstone Design & Build service.

Planted Landscape
Planted landscape – the art of bringing life to the garden with flowers and shrubs, trees and hedges, lawns and even perhaps wildflower meadow.
A landscape with texture, colour, architecture, fragrance.. a place for people and a place for nature too. Plants are the life and soul of the garden, creating mood and engaging the senses to uplift and inspire. At Flowerstone we take great care with our planting design to make sure that just the right plants go in just the right places. We source the finest quality plant stock from our network of specialist nurseries and carry out the most thorough ground preparation to encourage long term growing success.
