What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is making a real difference in people’s everyday lives. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing someone regain confidence, enjoy a good chat, or simply feel more comfortable and connected in their own home. Every visit is a chance to brighten someone’s day, offer reassurance to families, and help people stay independent for longer. It’s the personal relationships and the positive impact (big or small) that make this work so meaningful.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired to start Ellia after seeing first-hand how many people-especially older adults-were falling through the cracks between cleaning services and formal care. During the COVID pandemic, I supported elderly neighbours who were isolated and struggling with everyday tasks, but didn’t qualify for statutory care or need personal care. My background in the charity and third sector showed me the huge difference that practical, friendly support and genuine companionship can make. I wanted to create a service that bridges that gap, helping people stay independent, connected, and confident in their own homes.
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients should choose Ellia because we offer so much more than just cleaning or basic home help-we provide a warm, reliable, and truly personalised service that bridges the gap between domestic support and formal care. Our carefully selected and fully trained team delivers practical help with household tasks, meal preparation, errands, and technology, but also brings genuine companionship and encouragement, whether that’s a friendly chat, a walk, or support after illness or hospital discharge.
What makes Ellia different is our commitment to consistency and quality: you’ll see the same friendly face each visit, building real trust and understanding. We cap the number of people we support so every client receives the attention and continuity they deserve, never rushed or treated like just another task. Our flexible packages are designed around your needs and routine, whether you want occasional support or regular visits, and our secure technology keeps you and your family easily informed and reassured.
We help people who don’t qualify for personal care but still need a bit of extra help to stay independent, comfortable, and connected at home. By choosing Ellia, you and your loved ones gain peace of mind, practical support, and a genuine companion.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes, we can provide some of our services online or remotely. While much of our support is delivered in person, we also offer remote companionship through regular phone or video calls-perfect for a friendly chat, emotional support, or keeping in touch when face-to-face visits aren’t possible. Additionally, we can assist with technology support remotely, helping clients get set up with video calls, emails, or online shopping. If you or your loved one would benefit from virtual check-ins or digital help, just let us know and we’ll tailor our support to your needs.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
To keep our customers safe from Covid-19, Ellia has followed the latest government and public health guidance throughout the pandemic. We have implemented the following measures:
Our team members have been trained in infection prevention, including frequent and thorough handwashing before, during, and after each visit.
We use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks and gloves when appropriate, especially when working with clients who are at higher risk or when anyone is unwell in the household.
We ask our staff not to attend visits if they have any symptoms of Covid-19 or have tested positive, and encourage them to stay at home if unwell, in line with current UK government advice.
We minimise contact and maintain safe distances wherever possible, and can adapt support to include doorstep deliveries or remote check-ins if preferred by the client.
We ensure good ventilation during visits and encourage clients to do the same.
We regularly clean and disinfect any equipment brought into the home.
We keep up to date with evolving guidance and adjust our protocols as needed to prioritise the safety of our clients and staff.
These steps help us provide practical support and companionship while doing everything we can to protect the health and wellbeing of those we support.
