Currently Robert is working on an extension to my home in west London comprising of 2-storey extension, enlargement of detached garage, loft conversion and new contemporary glass porch. This is quite a bit of work and through close cooperation with Planners, Robert has secured full planning permission despite numerous objections. His design is innovative and effective and he is now moving forward with into Building Regs for "shell" construction followed by self managed fit out. He has been both supportive and flexible to keep this on track for what I hope will be a cost effective build. More...

What do you love most about your job?
Working with people and the creative process of designing architectural spaces and constructions that connect with the landscape and regenerate nature on a given site.
What inspired you to start your own business?
15 years of working for internationally significant architects and artists including Sverre Fehn and Renzo Piano and Vito Acconci gave me the confidence to start my practice. The company name was changed to Cura Design in 2021 to reflect its growth towards projects that connect with nature and regenerate nature.
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients benefit from a background and knowledge of high end design combined with years of getting projects done on time and to budget.
Clients come to Cura Design looking for a designer who is sensitive to interpreting their aspirations and as well sensitive to the design and detailing of the building and the way this works with the landscape.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I can provide services online or remotely for most projects at the feasibility and planning stages of a project. Services are available at Building regulation and Construction phases though in order for the services to be efficent and effective online projects are required to have a construction budget above £400,000 to make this worthwhile for all involved.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
This is on a case by case basis. Cura Design work remotely and via zoom or other online meeting platforms and can complete surveys and other on site tasks independently if required. All covid recommendatons are followed including masks.
Planning Consultancy
We have experience preparing conversions and backland developments and infill developments for Clients looking to develope their properties. Planning permission feasibility studies or studies looking at cost and physical constraints. We also have a good deal of experience with listed building consent for residential and commercial projects. We are also associated with Tini Living and can prepare Caravan Act applications for small homes in sensitive locations.
Biophilic Design
Design with a focus on protecting and enhancing the existing biodiversity of the site. Biophilic design can utlize a "green plot ratio" to increase the amount of green space and animal and insect life on a plot of land from an additional 10% to 1000% of what the plot would have if no development was takng place. Biophilic design can connect Clients to nature as well for health and well being.
Architectural design in sensitive areas
We specialize in architectural design in sensitive areas such as conservation areas, coastal areas and areas of outstanding natural beauty all of which require specific planning and design expertise.
Building Regulation and Tender Drawings
We can provide building regulation and tender drawings for Building Regulation submissions through tendering your project and/or all the way through to completion. We can provide Schedules of Work for Pricing or work iin conjunction with a Quantity Surveyor.
Contract Administration
We can work as Contract Administrators for your project all the way throught to completion on your project including providing interim payment certificates.
Regeneration and Sustainability
Many of our projects include renewable energy systems for heating and power and utilities including air source/ground source/ and water source heat pumps, storage batteries, PV panels, integral pv membranes, thermal hot water panels, green roofs, and rainwater harvesting. We have also completed designs that include passivehaus detailing and fabric first technologies.

We have experience working on theatres, museums, community centres, meditation halls and clubhouses.
