What do you love most about your job?
During the period of over 20 years that I have worked as a planning officer and manager in Local Planning Authorities (LPAs) in England, I have acquired professional and management experience that enable me to deliver positive outcomes for clients. I have had to engaged with developers and applicants or their planning agents, residents, political leaders, and other stakeholders as well as internal and external consultees to review and make informed recommendations on development proposals thereby ensuring successful outcomes for applicants and the LPA. I am passionate about delivering positive and sustainable outcomes for both the LPAs and applicants, be they homeowners, developers or local residents.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Starting my own planning consultancy was fuelled by my passion for helping others achieve their dreams and making a positive impact on communities. I wanted to offer my expertise to navigate complex planning processes and provide innovative solutions. The joy of seeing well-executed plans come to life and the positive changes they bring continues to drive my dedication to this profession.
Why should our clients choose you?
My role as a senior planning officer and manager required me to draft and present reports to several levels of decision-making including Planning Application Committee (PAC) meetings. I have also been leading officer on numerous projects including the building of new or extension of existing schools, regeneration or erection of new housing estates, introduction of retrofitting schemes and application of biodiversity net gain requirements and, on drafting and publishing local information requirements (LIRs) for applications for planning permission and other consents.
The knowledge and skill acquired in my role as planning officer and manager for LPAs are transferrable to and have been critical in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of a Town Planning consultant for the last 2 years. I undertake planning consultancy work on pre-application advice, permitted development for development and/or use of land and buildings, prior approvals, minor and major residential and other development schemes, and handling planning appeals.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I am happy to provide services remotely and in fact, much of my work is already carried out in this way.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
If face-to-face meetings are required, face masks are always worn, hand sanitiser is used and social distancing practiced where appropriate.
