Q&As

Seeing the difference we can make to the individuals we care for and their families. Individuals being given enough support to avoid admissions into hospitals or care homes always feels like a huge win!

I previously managed a residential care home in Beeston, Nottingham and i loved my job dearly. All of my efforts were aimed at creating a care home that didn't feel like a care home. The home had been previously rated by the CQC as 'requires improvement' and so i knew my role would be challenging. After a LOT of hard work, the CQC reinspected the home and we were given the 'Outstanding' rating... the highest possible rating. I was overjoyed but pretty soon started to think about my next challenge.
I couldn't help but think about the circumstances in which some of my service users had come to live in the care home. Unfortunately, many had had to give up their homes and move into a care home simply because an adequate care package could not be found that would keep them safe in their own home. This is when I made the decision to tackle the issue of inadequate home-care.

We are not like any other home care providers.

Other providers:
-Take on visits of 10 or 15 minutes meaning care is rushed, carers are stressed and the likelihood of an accident or error occurring is increased.
-Poor rate of pay for staff meaning staff feel undervalued and underpaid.
-No set visit times. Staff could turn up for a visit at any time. Imagine wanting a morning visit to help with breakfast and the carer arrives at 11am?
-Carers not showing up at all so visits are missed.
-Poor communication meaning family are left in the dark about care.

Blossom
- Minimum visit time of 50 minutes meaning holistic care can be delivered fully and safely.
- Blossom carers are given the best pay, the best training and the best working conditions. Carers feel valued and rewarded for their work.
- Visit times are agreed in advance and scheduled to ensure that carers are on-time every time.
- If a carer is sick, another is sent. Visits still go ahead as planned.
- Family members have the option of being given access to our care planning app meaning they're able to read visit notes and care plans.
