Recently we had Blake renovations to do our lounge room. We have never had such professional people to do work to this very high standard, we are delighted with the work, painting and wallpaper, professional in all aspects with excellent attention to detail. We are now having them back to paint another room and have recommended them to our friends. More...

I wanted to do a full refurbishment at the house I bought, as the tenant left it in a very bad condition. Bark gave me a very good and analytical quote, so I moved on with them. The work finished in the scheduled timeframe but also they changed us all the old light bulbs with new LED ones for free. Thank you again for everything and the very nice work. Fully recommended! How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Generally, garages can be converted regardless of their size or shape, as long as they meet certain minimum requirements such as ceiling height and access for utilities. In most cases, planning permission is not required for a garage conversion as long as the work is internal and doesn't involve extending the original footprint of the building. However, it is always a good idea to check with the local planning authority before starting any work to ensure compliance with regulations.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
1. Notify LABC of the proposed works and submit building regulations application. 2. Upgrade internal walls with additional leaf (typically timber studding). 3. Install adequate insulation on floor, walls, and ceiling. 4. Carry out first fix electrics and plumbing. 5. Screed and level floor. 6. Install windows and doors that comply with regulations. 7. Dry-line walls and ceiling. 8. Apply plastering system to walls and ceiling. 9. Carry out second fix electrics and plumbing. 10. Decorate after plaster has been given sufficient drying time (1 mist coat plus 2 top coats). 11. Install floor finish. 12. Obtain building completion certificate from LABC
