Benjamin Film & Photography worked with the Kent & Medway Suicide Prevention team to film the Baton of Hope as it came to Kent & Medway, and Ben was absolutely amazing in every way. He took the time to truly understand the initiative and its purpose, which was reflected so clearly in the final film. Ben made everyone who appeared on camera feel comfortable and at ease, and he interviewed baton bearers with such calmness, empathy, and sensitivity. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
There is no one secret but as a photographer, my aim to illicit an emotion from the viewer. Before squeezing the shutter, a photographer should be thinking 'what am I trying to say in this photo?'. Once you know this, you can look for the light and the settings that best reflect what you are trying to portray.

In photo terms, what do they require?
What style photos do they need?
Is there a brief for me to follow or are they happy for me to take creative control?
Is there a time frame that we are working too?

What do you love most about your job?
The thrill of creating something from scratch. Photography is about seeing something in your minds eye and creating it with what you have in front of you. The buzz you get when you nail it is amazing!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to challenge myself and make a career from something I genuinely love. I wake up everyday looking to improve, to learn and evolve. This brings enormous satisfaction!
