Q&As

You can tell if a loft is suitable for conversion by checking a few key things: the available head height (ideally at least 2.2 meters from the floor to the highest point), the overall size and footprint of the loft, the type of roof structure (traditional cut roofs are often easier to convert than modern trussed roofs), and the condition of the existing structure. You also need to consider access for a staircase, and whether planning permission or building regulations approval will be needed. A proper survey is always recommended to spot any potential issues early on

A loft conversion typically goes through several key stages:
1. Initial Survey and Design
We start by surveying the loft space, checking head height, structure, and access. Then we work with you to design a layout that suits your needs and make sure it meets building regulations.
2. Planning and Approvals
Depending on the type of conversion and property, we might need planning permission or just building regulations approval. We handle all the paperwork and approvals for you.
3. Structural Work
We reinforce the floor, fit steel beams if needed, and adjust or strengthen the roof structure to support the new living space safely.
4. Roof and Exterior Changes
If needed, we install dormers, roof lights, or hip-to-gable extensions to add space and natural light.
5. Internal Build
We install insulation, build internal walls, fit windows, and create the new rooms. At this stage, the new staircase is also installed.
6. Plumbing and Electrics
We run any new plumbing, wiring, and ventilation systems needed for bathrooms, lighting, heating, or sockets.
7. Plastering and Finishing
The walls and ceilings are plastered, and we complete all finishing touches like doors, skirting boards, and decorating to your chosen style.
8. Final Inspections and Sign-Off
We arrange all final building inspections to ensure everything meets the required standards, and once passed, the project is officially complete and ready for you to enjoy.

I started carpentry when I left school, after completing my carpentry apprenticeship I went on to do my electrical apprentership, after this I spent 2 years working for Princess yachts fitting out luxury boats. I then went out on my own as a self employed carpenter and have been ever since.

Creativity, and taking pride in my work. I love coming to work everyday and coming across new challenges.

I was inspired to start my own carpentry business because of my passion for working with my hands and creating things that are built to last. I’ve always loved the craftsmanship, precision, and creativity that carpentry demands. Starting my own business gave me the freedom to bring clients’ visions to life, focus on quality over quantity, and take pride in every custom project I deliver. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing something tangible come to life through skill, hard work, and attention to detail

Clients should choose me because I am committed to delivering high-quality results, tailored solutions, and outstanding service. I take the time to understand each client’s unique needs and goals, ensuring that every project is approached with dedication, expertise, and attention to detail.
