I approached Chris after reading a few reviews on Houzz and reviewing his past projects.
His approach to our project has been truly unique. We had the opportunity to explain what we wanted to achieve and he helped us create a vision for our dream home. He listened to our needs and made plans that not only incorporated all the elements that we wanted but also maximised the space we had available. We are new to project design and he has opened our minds to better ways to design our home, that was more cost-efficient and energy saving, whilst taking into account the current development laws in our area. There were factors that we did not consider like the amount of natural light available and how to maximise this in the design of the property.

Looking to get an extension to my bungalow. I contacted a few initially for comparison.
Chris responded quickly, and unlike some other architects, Chris was happy to work in stages and bring in service only when necessary (site survey in particular, and it was not necessary at the end as Chris has enough experience to work on this). As you can imagine, this helps to avoid cost.
During the various phases, Chris was very responsive and very patient with all my questions. We have a few, what I would say un-reasonable responses from the council during the planning application. Chris explained the details to me and dealt with them efficiently. The planning was approved and Chris put together the build drawing and able to recommended a couple of very good builders. Unfortunately during the course of approx 9 months (council mainly, then busy time for the builders, and holidays over the first summer after lock down), the materials price has gone up significantly so I have to park the project for now.
It is difficult to capture all the detail but in summary, Chris is experience, responsive, patient to explain the detail and happy to work within my constraint. I would 100% recommend Appropriate Design solution to my friends. More...

Reflecting back my initial design brief to Chris wasn’t the greatest, as although I had some ideas in mind I wasn’t entirely sure what exactly I wanted. Despite this, Chris seemed to read my mind and after an hours consultation and a look at our property, came up with an initial design that incredibly ticked all the boxes, and in his own words gave us “bang for the buck.”

From the outset through to receiving planning approval, Chris was a pleasure to work with. Pleasant, prompt, responsive and evidently very experienced made the whole process a pleasure. Chris took all the burden away including the submission of our planning application, which made obtaining approval a breeze.
