My daughter held her wedding here and I could not have asked for better. The venue is beautiful for the service and the care and consideration from all staff is second to none. I would especially like to thank Ollie who took care of the whole ceremony and the running of the whole day with the utmost professionalism and charm to ensure the perfect experience. Even I was speically looked after and felt like a queen throughout the day.|The hotel is in beautiful Welsh countryside and is a stunning venue for weddings and special occasions. We got married here on 21.07.19 and we can't thank everyone at the new house enough. Our day was perfect! everything run smoothly and just right. The staff could not do enough to please us, our family and our guests. We heard nothing but fantastic comments from our guests and this made us even more happier. We wouldn't have had our special day anywhere else, The new house wedding staff made our day what it was and we thank you so much for that. Stayed at this classy establishment on a Friday night leading up the Christmas. The decor and ambience in the public rooms was lovely and the staff were professional and courteous. |Our room was spacious and well appointed. The queen size bed very comfortable. We even has a terrace with lovely views.|The ‘Full Welsh Breakfast’ was exceptional and my compliments to the chef. Everything was good quality and cooked to perfection. This was the best wedding venue we could ever of wished for! The hotel is stunning, the guests couldnt believe the quality of the rooms and the wedding itself was so amazing all because of this incredible venue and their amazing team of staff! We were so impressed at how smoothly the day ran and how little we had to do so we could enjoy the day. We love this hotel - great location if you want to keep out of the city, and near excellent dog walks and castles. The view from the hotel from the top of the hill is stunning. The staff were so genuinely welcoming to us with our golden retriever and we never felt unwanted because we have a (big) dog. Breakfast was really great too! I recently stayed at this hotel for 5 nights as I was working away in Caerphilly. On arrival to the hotel I was taken aback by the stunning views as far out as Cardiff. My room was spacious, modern but had kept it's traditional look. The bed was comfy and the facilities were all faultless. ||||My only grievance is the blue standby light on the TV - it lights up the room. My solution was to stick a plaster on the light. ||||Despite the menu being slightly limited, the food was delicious. The beef was a personal fave. The bar prices were slightly inflated but it is a nice hotel after all so that was no surprise. ||||I used the gym a couple of times and, although it was on the small side, everything was fully functioning. ||||Sit outside and enjoy a beer - take in the views! My wife and I visit Cardiff quite often and usually stay in the city centre, however on this occasion we also wanted to visit other places in the area and so the New House was an ideal location. We really enjoyed our stay. The grounds are superb with great views across to the city, Cardiff Bay and the Bristol Channel. Our room was traditional, but clean and comfortable with a modern bathroom. The room also had the same great views noted above. As we were out of the city for our two night stay we booked a dinner, bed and breakfast rate. Dinner on both nights was superb, well cooked and presented. The choice was good and with a reasonably priced wine list. Breakfast was also freshly cooked and a good start to the day. Again, although quite traditional, the whole ambience of the hotel was relaxing and all the staff we interacted with were unfailingly helpful and friendly. So a really good experience, and we will definitely look to stay here again when in the area. More...

We stayed here for four nights while visiting family in the area. From the moment we arrived to when we checked out we were made to feel welcome by the amazing staff. The New House Country Hotel retains the charm, classic style and ambience that is rarely seen these days. The standard of service is up there with the very best and the staff without exception accommodating, warm and helpful. Our room was a very generous size with a view over the grounds and the city of Cardiff (weather permitting!). Hotel stunning location and unique decor. Rooms a bit dated and tired, could do with freshen up. Restaurant very disappointed, fear food is luxury end of ready prepared meals, lacked depth of flavour and choice limited very red meat heavy, not enough light options. If staying more than one night quite limiting. Restaurant staff need to smile. Veg with roast dinner were very poor and looked microwaved. Waiting staff after serving mains forgot about us and we had to ask for dessert menu on a table of 13!! Knowledge of food and drink poor. Restaurant let’s the hotel down. We enjoyed our stay here as the hotel provided comfortable rooms along with several lounge areas where a person could sit and relax. The room we had was spacious and comfortable but did lack space to store our clothes. The hotel had a very small bar area where drinks could be ordered but we never had trouble getting what we ordered. The hotel has a very nice dining room and served lunch and dinners. They also serve breakfast but we never used this feature. The food we had was ok, but there was a lack of variety. We would have liked a more extended menu. While at the hotel numerous weddings were held. Including on week days. The hotel is a few miles outside of Cardiff so it is in the countryside. A downside to being in the country is if visiting from outside the area you will need to use taxi service. In the evenings it is very serene. Lights from Cardiff are also nice to see at night from the hotel. The service was excellent and the staff very pleasant to talk with. We would definitely recommend this hotel. More...
