Great place to stay while in Llanberis. Enjoyed a 2 night stay here with my girlfriend. The staff was all very nice, the place is clean and tidy so no complaints. The only thing I would say is the beds are quite firm, so was a bit uncomfortable at times, other than that it was a great stay and would consider coming back again. More...
Stayed this weekend on a one night Secret Escapes deal in a classic room in the main building, plus breakfast and a champagne afternoon tea upon arrival. All was excellent, room spacious, clean and a very comfy superking bed. The afternoon tea was delicious with assorted sandwiches, scones, jam and cream plus 8 different pieces of assorted cakes including Christmas cake. Breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice, both hot and cold buffet plus several ‘to order’ options including Welsh kippers in butter. A lovely hotel with stunning views from the breakfast room plus the fab mountain views from our dual aspect corner bedroom. Will definitely return. More...
I stayed at the hotel the other night. Very well located for Snowdon. Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice food in the bar. Room was small but very clean and tidy. Would definitely stay again. Thank you to the super helpful receptionist. More...
Attended our annual Christmas party last night, lovely atmosphere, Excellent service and the food was faultless, delicious, starter, main and dessert. Casino and dancers was great finished off the evening with a disco. We stayed the night, room was lovely and clean, breakfast this morning was very tasty with plenty of choice. Looking forward to next year’s party already! More...
Nice hotel. Rooms not a huge size, i had a double which was adequate for one person. Room decor very nice. Would stay again.
Stayed here at the weekend with a group of friends and had a great time. Great welcome from staff at reception when we arrived. Pizza and a few drinks in the bar at lunchtime, then a fantastic time at the party in the evening. Everyone in the group commented that their food was hot and tasty. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and the french ladies welcoming everyone to the restaurant, table decorations and then the dancers after the meal all added to the experience, also a casino and disco meant great value and there was something for everyone. Staying over meant we didn’t have to worry about taxi’s to get home and the buffet breakfast cured a few sore heads on Sunday morning. A lot of thought had gone into the whole thing and we can’t wait to see what the theme is next year. More...
Lovely rooms, really nice en suite, comfortable bed and warm. The dinner was gorgeous and the staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was excellent but buffet which isn't my personal preference. It was so good that we've booked again. Unfortunately the young lady taking the booking was not very good at her job. More...
Lovely hotel with a really nice atmosphere and good food, the bar menu was better suited for us than the restaurant.||||Staff are really friendly and there’s lots of local produce in the menus. ||||Overall a nice stay
very good hotel to stay when visiting snowdonia central to lovely walks just over the road from the mountain railway.Hotel is excellent meals are all nicely cooked fresh vegetables and on time. Bedrooms and bathroom very clean.Staff excellent and helpful would stay again More...
We are here for a weekend away the hotel staff are so accommodating, we wanted to change rooms so we could see the mountain more they helped us change and it was not a problem. We had food in the bar and it was like eating in a restaurant amazing food we had the steak it was cooked to perfection, with fresh battered onions rings fries and salad. There is also a restaurant within the hotel so I can only imagine the food there is as good as in the bar. Great location also right at the bottom of mount snowden to explore. If you are visiting Snowdonia this place is a must, clean nice rooms, great views, and amazing food! More...
Stayed the weekend in the “Slate” room. Very clean room, one of the best I have stayed in. ||Absolutely stunning views ( double vista) room itself superb. Decor modern, interesting and stylish.Comfy bed with beautiful locally made throw.||Drinks tray with special touches. Nespresso machine with a draw full of various pods, biscuit bars, various teas, bottle of water and quality locally produced crisps . ||Locally quality produced shower gel, shampoo, hand-wash and hand/ body lotion.||Staff extremely welcoming, from check in to check out they were attentive and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a great stay. ||The hotel was very busy with a wedding and a few other functions going on but staff ensured it did not affect the excellent service in all areas of the hotel.||First night we ate in the bar. Food delicious and very reasonably priced. Mostly locally sourced.||Breakfast buffet was also delicious with a varied selection of both hot and cold choices.||The usual full Welsh / English breakfast. Constantly replenished by staff. Choices of fresh coffees and teas, Orange and Apple juice.||Local fresh bread and sliced brown and white with good selection of jam, chocolate spread etc etc||Cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt, fresh pastries.||||Second evening we ate in the restaurant with a good selection of choices. Although we did prefer the bar food to the restaurant food. (Both were good though )||Very fairly priced food and incredible value room .||||Would definitely recommend this Hotel. We had a great weekend. More...
Good Sunday Lunches
Would definately stay again..
This is a lovely hotel. We had a very clean and surprisingly modern room. The hotel was very quiet with a lovely relaxing bar which served food. The food was cooked well and for a reasonable price. Our main motive was to explore Snowdonia, so this was a perfect base for it. More...
Lovely and warm little base to explore from.
I spent the weekend here with my partner ,we had afternoon tea on arrival which was really nice, and plenty for two, the room we stayed in was lovely, the bed was huge and really comfortable, the room and an suite were spotless,we had breakfast which was buffet style, and couldn't fault it plenty to choose from,we ordered vegan and it was not a problem at all,the staff were lovely and very helpful, the grounds are gorgeous with plenty to see, located in a beautiful area,I would highly recommend,
A very nice stay in a beautiful part of the country. Used it as a base for a short autumn break. The food in the restaurant was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful. Had a large family room which was ok but it definitely needs updating. More...
Great atmosphere, for good food and drink ,comfortable bar and reception areas.
Great location with lot of nearby accessibility to trains, lakes, national slate museum and great twisty roads. The staff of the hotel is very kind and polite and the breakfast is pretty decent. Ample parking space and the rooms are sufficient in size and clean too. The bar food is great too. Would certainly recommend if you need a short break in Snowdon. And the climb up the peak is literally at the foot step of the hotel. A 10 mins walk gets you to a beautiful waterfall too. More...

upon arrival amazing service provided by reception lovely room with cosy updated modernistic feel, beautiful surroundings and grounds, we stayed for dinner in the rosette star restraunt served by manager Antonio, what a pleasure usualy you expect worse but the restraunt exceeded all expectations food, service atmosphere and quality, you are well look after and given the meal of your life, impressive comforting and cleansing all you can ask from a hotel.
Taking a break while waiting to board on the train to the top of Snowdon
Like the place
Had aa weekend at the Royal Victorian hotel. Is a nice very authentic hotel. Friendly people, good food, roomie rooms. Beautiful location.

Lovely place to base yourself for Snowdon
Good stay, nice food ...
Lovely hotel near snowdonia

Nice relaxing atmosphere rooms good food great just what you need for a weekend break
Stayed here for two nights as was taking part in the Snowdonia Marathon. The hotel is ideally located for this purpose being closer to the start line than the official baggage drop and not too far to stagger from the finish. ||||The rooms (classic double) are basic, but clean. Temperature control was a bit hit and miss and hot water was in short supply due to (I assume) loads of marathoners showering at a similar time. More...
We were a large group of hungry runners after the marathon, the food was served quickly & was good. The bar area was busy, would have liked a couple more choices of real ale but did enjoy the Glodwyn Gold.
I can really recommend the restaurant. We went for a quiet couple of days with a view to pushing the boat out a little and I can say the restaurant was a big part in us managing that. The set menu was truly superb and well worth the total. Great wine selection to go with the very careful and well thought out, fresh and interesting food. 3 courses for £30pp but I've never had lamb as perfectly cooked as that. More...
We stayed at the Royal Victoria Hotel to catch up with friends who were already booked in for the weekend. We got the last room (an executive room 202) for the Saturday night. Parking was plentiful and free of charge and booking in was straight forward with friendly reception staff. We had read reviews which stated the hotel was tired and the staff unfriendly. I agree that some parts of the hotel do look tired but there was also plenty of evidence of improvements. Our room was very clean, comfortable and well equipped and had a terrific view looking over the gardens towards Llanberis and the lake. The hotel was full and very busy with lots of people who were participating in the Snowdonia Marathon. We did not have any experiences of unfriendly staff but found them all very welcoming and helpful. The meals we ordered in the bar were very good and even though the hotel was busy we did not have to wait long for them to be brought to the table. Breakfast was very busy but again the wait for a table was minimal and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and will certainly visit again. Lovely hotel, breakfast was great too. Didn't actually eat in the evening as on our first day there was a gas leak and no food and limited food later in the evening so popped into Llanberis which is 5 minutes walk. Our room was nice and very clean, a little small but adequate for our needs as we were out all day as there are lots if things to do and see, all in walking distance. The staff were really friendly and would definitely recommend a stay. More...

The hotel is well organised and the food on offer is local and outstandingly presented. The staff are helpful and welcoming. The only down side I can say about my stay is our bed was not to a standard I would expect of such a fine hotel, this is purely down to only the mattress. Other than this the sheets are clear and the rooms are maintained to a high standard. Without a doubt I would stay here again. More...
Great hotel, affordable and ideally situated for anyone wanting to walk up to the summit of Mt.Snowdon via the Llanberis path. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were well furnished, clean sheets and bedding and the beds were comfortable too. The evening menu was varied and has something for everyone as well as a great wine selection. It has parking although this got rather full on the Saturday evening. If this place had spa facilities I'm sure it would be classed as a 4 star hotel too. I would definitely visit The Royal Victoria Hotel again. More...
Been providing luxury service for over a hundred years to coach's and carriages. Still as good as it gets.

Good food (could be bigger portions). Nice service. Very busy but qualitt
As a hotel location for the Snowdonia Marathon, you couldn't get anything better than the Royal Victoria, being a few hundred metres from the start. We stayed with a group of runners from our running club who have been using the hotel for many years.||||Bits of the hotel are outdated, some parts have been modernised and some parts are looking a bit tired, no different from what you expect from this type of hotel.||||Our room (double) was clean and functional, no complaints.||||Breakfast in the restaurant was buffet and very good. Everything was being replenished by the staff, so nothing ran out. On Saturday morning (race day) we had a lighter breakest, but made up with the full works on Sunday morning.||||We had a few drinks in the bar, but didn't eat in the hotel as the restaurant was fully booked and couldn't accomidate our group, so ate in another restaurant in town.||||Only complaint was that when we came back to the hotel just after 10pm, it wasn't possible to buy a coffee or hot drink, as all the machines had been turned off, which seemed very strange. More...
Most of it was fab.
We had a mini break here organised through secret escapes, we weren’t quite sure what to expect as the hotel only has three stars, and given that the main part of the hotel accommodation is in a rather unattractive 70s block I can sort of understand where that came from. The rooms were actually rather nice with large super king beds, shower gel and shampoo and good quality fluffy towels. The only downside is that the floors are really creaky so we were tiptoeing around In case we disturbed anybody that might be in the room below. The service was also very good, very welcoming reception staff and everyone in the restaurants was extremely helpful.||The rest of the hotel is lovely; we ate in the hotel bar both nights and the food was excellent. We were particularly impressed with the two 8 ounce steaks with fries coleslaw and salad along with a bottle of very nice Malbec for £35 for the two of us. Breakfast buffet was also fantastic, huge selection including a very large pot of creamy porridge which given the weather was much appreciated. The hotel is ideally located for the Snowdon railway if you don’t fancy doing the climb up there. There isn’t a huge amount in Llanberis itself, a lot of climbing/mountaineering shops and a few cafes again the location is just so lovely. We will certainly go back again if we’re in the area. A great placed hotel for a walk up Snowdon, straight across from the hotel follow the road and there you start the Llanberis Path. |The hotel looks quite grand but it is in desperate need of a makeover.Take a walk around the hotel and down the corridors and you can see it’s dated. The twin rooms are quite small but have everything you need for a stay. The bathroom needed a proper clean and the mould removing from the shower area with a brighter build and a lick of paint it’d be great. The shower was lovely and hot and the water pressure enough to pin you to the back wall.|There can be quite a lot of noise from the corridor as the room is quite small and you are nearer the door. There is a selection of teas and some coffee on a tray with a kettle to make your own hot drinks.|I ordered room service which turned up quite quickly, unfortunately the steak burger was missing the advertised cheese and the fries were wedges !!|Breakfast although advertised as continental was going to be a disappointment but on arrival they did actually have sausages, eggs, beans etc for a full English. The coffee machine making all sorts at a push of a button was great and a welcome change from “pre-made coffee” in a pot.Help yourself to whatever and as much as you like. The different breads were a nice surprise and well worth smearing some jam on them after toasting.|The car park can get quite full meaning driving around or trying to park in the coach house area. There is a larger car park a very short walk from the hotel.|The Snowdon train is also a very short walk from the hotel if you don’t feel like the walk up.|A walk into town recommended where you’ll find the local shop with a Subway inside.Petes eats is a short walk away and recommended by the locals for almost anything you want.|Although the hotel needs a refurb we’d still come back but try and get a deal on the rooms. Great base for Snowdon
We had a lovely room, food was good.
Paid £170 for 2 nights, it’s a 3 star so the price isn’t a giveaway but the hotel is very well appointed, comfortable and clean, I used the restaurant on both evenings, £6 for starters and most mains were around £12, here again, not the cheapest but the food is really good and well presented, the staff are excellent and assist promptly with any requests most of the time (read on), the breakfast is also excellent with an “eat as much as you like” style buffet with everything imaginable for a good start to the day. The only negative I had was, I filled the card left in the room regarding maintenance, (my room had no Lux shower/shampoo gel (empty) and one of the bulbs had gone on the bedside wall), took to reception as per instruction at 10am, on my return neither had been rectified, I went to reception on my way to dinner that night and informed Ruth (very pleasant lady) on the desk that nothing had been done with my request who said “she would inform the duty manager “ surprisingly I never got my shower gel or bulb sorted, it fell on deaf ears, certainly not in keeping with anything else in this superb hotel. Absolutely outstanding, set within well maintained grounds and a stone's throw from the Snowdon Railway Station. The charm of this place is it's location, friendly helpful informative staff, good food and service, and thoughtful evening entertainment. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival that there appeared nothing that manifested itself in all the negative feedback we had read beforehand. There is no way the hotel could have rectified the so called faults in the short space of time between the negativity being identified and posting of the issue and our arrival. The room was spotless albeit with no real view but after all what we were there for was outside. The castle in the grounds afforded a lovely walk to get there ( about 10 mins) with glorious views out over the lake. Afternoon tea in the conservatory was a delight -- only shame being the quirky mismatched china -- and a complimentary glass of fizz too.The weather obviously made our stay more pleasurable and there were no coach parties staying during our stay which seemed to be the bone of contention for the " private" guests.Breakfast was of buffet type and plentiful and hot with a good choice for all.Dinner we took in the bar and took advantage of the 2 steaks & bottle of wine for £35 offer. Absolute bargain and steaks cooked to perfection. Local entertainment were on one night a local choir then a brass/silver band the other. Please dont say anyone wanted bingo?!!!!Would heartily recommend and would stay again. Well done everyone for a special stay. More...

Youve got to love reading some peoples reviews, table service at breakfast? For a hotel this size the number of staff required to serve a full hotel would be a struggle to say the least. Personally I much prefer the buffet service which allows to chat to other guests, its really well laid out across a large room to prevent excessive crowds forming when busy. The allotment of seating was a great idea, it was first come first seated at the best seats with spectacular views , it meant you could both go up for food knowing no one would jump in your seats. The servers did a great job whilst we were there at clearing and freeing up tables as quick as possible on a Sunday morning. There was a great selection of yoghurts croissants cereal and fruit compots, the toaster area had freshly baked loaves of bread you could have as well as the standard brown and white loaves, the hot buffet section was constantly replenished by the cook, admittedly it didnt have a massive selection but certainly enough to fill most peoples desires, sausage, bacon ,scrambled egg, fried egg on precut fried bread, nice touch, mushrooms , little hash browns and baked beans . Hotel has plenty of parking and I was delighted they let me leave car in their car park the next morning to take train up Snowdon saving me £8. Bar prices are very reasonable for a hotel, £3.50 for a pint of lager , it was packed as they had a wedding on and I noticed one on the Sunday too could have probably done with another pair of hands to serve but not the end of world having to wait. We were on the third floor which was a bit of a trek through the Labyrinth of sqeaky floorboards , yes the hotels been well lived in over the years up a couple of floors on one left then up a corridor to another lift for a floor , used the stairs when bags dropped off. The room was ideal twin beds 50 inch LG tv on wall good bathroom with large Lux shower gel on wall , cleaning had missed someones razor on the shelf but it looked liked they had a lot of rooms to do and the one we saw on leaving the next morning was very friendly and pleasant . The hotel couldnt be better placed for the railway or the walking path to Snowdon. The staff are a credit to the establishment and I wouldnt hesitate recommending it to anyone of my friends More...
A friend and I stayed for 2 nights.....Exellent location for the railway for Snowdon..|Room freashly decorated...|We couldn't open the windows, got House keeper Annette to open them (think we were thick! , top pulls down, we were trying to open from the bottom!!! ).|There was a problem locking the door, so we used the chair to wedge it because it rattled 1st night due to the windows being open! 2nd night, slept great.|Staff were all friendly and had a smile...| More...

We have rated this on the second room we were given. The first room was in the coach house - it was not cleaned properly, very dated and drab. The stairs and corridor up to the rooms smelt unpleasant on the way to the room. When we complained we were given the opportunity to upgrade to a much nicer clean room in the main building.for an additional charge. It was much more comfortable and bright. We ate in the bar both evenings and the food was great and the service good too.Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. More...
When we first arrived we were given a room in the coach house, which is what we booked. However we booked it thinking that it had modern decor as described and it would be similar to a classic room that was pictured on the hotel website. Unfortunately it wasn’t- the entry stairs to the room smelt and when we entered the room we were greeted by a rather miserable brown/beige interior complete with dated, chipped Formica furniture. The bedside cabinet had open shelves which had loads of cobwebs in it and the remote control was absolutely filthy. The bathroom was very drab and dated.||We did complain and were able to move to a classic room in the main building for an additional charge. This room was modern and clean. There was a good choice at the buffet breakfast. We ate in the bar both nights and the food was good and served quickly.||We did enjoy our stay once we had moved rooms. More...

This once lovely hotel is in an excellent location for the Snowdon Mountain Railway. Great staff on the whole and very good food. However the hotel itself is very tired and in need of a full refurb. We were in an executive room overlooking the garden and the lake. Huge room with a five foot and a three foot bed in it. Beds were comfortable. Furniture was tired and carpet was rucked. Windows slid open and had to have help to get them shut. Bathroom was clean and adequate. Shower was over narrow bath so had limited elbow room. The radiators worked well but the fan heater in the wardrobe was a clue to how cold it got in the winter. There was also a fan and an iron and board. We had a kettle plus an espresso machine.|A friend had warned me about the coach parties so I’d booked a table in the conservatory for dinner. Lovely venue and great meal. First breakfast was a disaster. Arrived to be seated at 7:40 and joined the long queue. The main restaurant was for the coach parties and they had already filled the conservatory. We were found a seat in a private dining room. The window was stuck open - it was 12C - even maintenance couldn’t close it. As my husband is partially sighted and it was a buffet breakfast in another room I was was forced to make trip after trip down the corridor through the throng at the door and back again. After sorting him out I’d lost the incentive to go again so pinched one of his mini croissants and settled for tea. Next morning we were there at 7 and all went smoothly. |I feel The Royal’s bread and butter custom comes from the coach parties and the events they host. Perhaps they feel it’s not worth spending the huge amounts it would cost to bring this would be gem back to its heights. Such a shame as it’s really one of a kind and should be world class.|The downs wouldn’t stop me from staying again should Snowdon call but I’m more savvy now about how to get the best out of my stay. More...
The Royal Victoria Hotel is perfectly placed for climbing Snowdon via the Llanberis path. The hotel is warm and welcoming with friendly and helpful staff. |Breakfast is ok but unfortunately when we were there there was also a very large group staying which made it very noisy and items were very quickly depleted and not necessarily replaced as quickly. |As none group guest you do sit in a much smaller and quieter room for all meals. Our evening meal was well presented and tasty. |In general the hotel was slightly understaffed for the number of guests but this may have just been on one off situation? |We had a large comfortable room at the side of the hotel with a garden view however it was directly above the function room in which a wedding party was in full swing. So it may be worth asking about your room location especially at the weekend. |Unfortunately our bathroom did need some remedial work in relation to the bath/shower - dirty grouting and dirty bath seal. |We would certainly stay again. Food and drink are also reasonably priced too. More...
Reall.y pleased with the hotel and the helpfulness of all the staff.
Ideally placed for the Snowdon Railway, it's an old-fashioned sort of place, but we had a smallish but comfortable room with good facilities. It was at the top of the hotel and a long walk from reception, but this meant that it was really nice and quiet (no problem with hot water either!). Good value for money all round. Helpful staff. Nice breakfast. The young lady on reception said it was OK to leave our car there after check-out while we went on the railway, which helped enormously as we were short of time. Can’t leave anything here but 5* review. We got married here on 21.9.19 & Right from the very moment we went to view the hotel right up until our Wedding! ! Gwen was so professional and was in touch with me every step of the way, she always got back to me straight away via email and even when we hit a problem and had to delay the wedding due to being in hospital for 9 months with my son she managed to change my date for us with no issues at all and for that I can’t thank her enough.... ❤️ Gwen & her team in Royal Victoria Hotel, Snowdonia we’re so on the ball and took all the stress away from us & we Can’t thank the staff enough would highly recommend this venue to everyone, every member of staff went above & beyond to make sure our day was perfect nothing was to much trouble, the food was amazing and had compliments from all my guests. I liked the history of the place, a nice comfortable bed after long day driving, nice and clean. As weather was wet and miserable didnt get to see grounds (what we did see out of windows was nice) breakfast was nice (dont leave your table unattended as it will be cleaned and given to someone else) this happened to us so took rest of breakfast to room. Location to Llanberis path of Snowdon..
Just returned from my second stay at this hotel, this time I stayed for two nights in a single room. First of all the location of the hotel is amazing, the breakfast is good and varied, the staff are good and my meal in the restaurant on Saturday night was exceptional. A few minor points, firstly the cleaning in certain areas of the room (ironing board, windowsill) could be improved, the ironing board will only fold down when the bed is as far away from it as possible due to the small room, and again due to the size of the room, the bathroom is extremely cramped, although the shower cubicle had plenty of space and amazing pressure. To sum up when I stay again (and I will) I will spend a bit extra and book a double room in the Coachhouse as this is where I stayed on my previous visit, with a much larger room and a massive bathroom with a bath. So for the location, food and service you can't go wrong, just be aware that the single rooms are quite small. More...

Stayed at this hotel last weekend in June.Initially a bit difficult to find a parking space, but was aware there might be a problem as they state on their site that weddings are catered for and to be prepared for noise as well as the obvious parking problem. Check in was quick with friendly reception staff. Got to the room and was relatively impressed, it was not as large as I had imagined it to be but was of a reasonable size, bathroom was clean and bright. In the evening the bar was quite crowded and at times there was quite a wait to get served. First night slept very well, the bed, not the largest I have slept on was comfortable enough. Breakfast is buffet style with the regular traditional breakfast of eggs (of choice, scrambled, poached, or fried) bean, mushrooms, sausages, bacon and mini hash browns. There was also an assortment of cereals and fruits. As we went as as a couple we were able to sit on the balcony which overlooks the gardens, I think all the tables there are for two persons, although in the main part there are tables for any number of people. After a day out we decided to have a meal in the restaurant,(which is in effect where we had breakfast). Food was good and reasonably priced. Again second second nights sleep very good. I would have no rouble recommending this hotel.|There had been a wedding reception on the Saturday, but was not disturbed by it at all. More...
Nice location close to the snowdon railway. Good breakfast. The garden is pretty nice
The Royal Victoria Hotel is a beautiful hotel nestled on the edge of Llanberis right opposite the start of the Llanberis Path up to Snowdon. ||Check in was quick and the staff were extremely pleasant. Our room was on the third floor and involved taking two lifts. The hotel initially seemed like a labyrinth but we quickly got our bearings and there were actually a number of stair options to choose from to get to the restaurant or lobby besides taking the lifts. Our twin room was large, the beds very comfortable and there were drink making facilities with loads of tea, coffee and milk sachets provided. Biscuits were a nice extra. The bathroom was spacious, modern and had a lovely shower over the bath. Everything was spotless. ||Breakfast was buffet style, varied and plentiful. If you get sat in the conservatory you will have wonderful views over the garden and lake. Michael ran the restaurant with military precision, was super organised, polite, friendly and hands on. I was impressed to see him mucking in with the other staff clearing tables when he had a spare few moments. ||All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and every one of them acknowledged us with a cheery ‘Good Morning’ or ‘Hello’ when we passed. ||We did have sporadic connection issues with the WiFi for our last couple of nights and mentioned this on checkout. They were genuinely apologetic and reassured us that they will investigate as this shouldn’t happen. This might have been a big issue for some visitors but it really didn’t bother us and it certainly didn’t spoil our trip or our view of the hotel in the slightest. It was a fantastic stay and we will definitely be coming back. More...
All staff provided a good service, the room was clean and well serviced and the restaurant service was excellent as was the food, overall I would return to this hotel.
This was a two night stay booked at the last minute so only had the option of a twin room rather than a double. The room itself was in the stable block annex accessed up a flight of quite steep, narrow stairs. For two people with luggage the room was rather cramped. Better forward planning would have probably got us a bigger room although our room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathroom had everything one needed. Modern TV worked fine as did the hotel wifi.||||The main car park at the front of the hotel was always full but being in the stable block meant there were always spaces in that car park and we could park practically outside the door.||||We were asked if we wished to dine in the restaurant but decided to try the bar menu which turned out to be excellent. Good choice and freshly cooked, we ate there both nights. The breakfast deserves a mention - quite the best I have had for a long while and I consider myself a seasoned traveller!. Buffet style with continental and cooked options plus juices, pastries, various hot beverages. The hot buffet was constantly stocked with freshly cooked food and was delicious.||||Staff were all pleasant and helpful; nothing too much trouble. I reported a minor problem with a room component and housekeeping was at the door within minutes with a replacement. ||||Another reviewer has mentioned the hotel's faded Victorian grandeur. It is somewhat faded but it's very comfortable and clean and after a day on the mountains it is a very welcoming place to which to return (although our day on the mountain was spent on the Snowdon Mountain Railway which is literally a two-minute walk from the hotel).||||Llanberis itself is an odd place. Apart from the hotel and the SMR (and I think another railway) there is very little there. We didn't see any shops at all-I think people go there just to climb (or ride) up Snowdon.||||In brief then, a comfortable, well-placed hotel which can't be bettered if you are visiting Snowdonia. More...

It is also only five minutes walk from the Llanberis Lake Railway and ten minutes from the slate museum.||We had an executive room overlooking the garden. The room was large & very well appointed with all mod cons.||The hotel offers bar meals, surprisingly enough, in the bar, and a full restaurant service on the first floor. The bar offers burgers/pizzas/fish & chips etc, whilst the restaurant offers a fuller menu, which is naturally more expensive. Antonio in the restaurant was excellent, managing to be cheerful, amusing & very efficient.||Breakfast was buffet style upstairs and very good.||Would certainly stay there again and recommend this hotel. We stayed here for four nights in a Jaguar Driver's Club organised tour of Snowdonia . We were allocated a room on the top floor with very creaky floorboards with the only relief was that we were not underneath. The rooms were spacious and clean, bathrooms recently refurbished but basic materials used, unlike the public toilets which were very stylish. The shower was what I call a "Goldilocks" one, the first day too hot, the second too cold and the third just right. The room was also the furthest point from reception and we managed to never repeat the trek down to reception. Breakfast was buffet style, full english and continental but chaotic when over 50 people descended for breakfast at the same time.Evening meals were limited choice because we were on a group basis and had our own dining room. Beautiful. Great food. Room was a bit noisy with a herd of elephants staying above us but you can't blame the hotel for that.
The hotel itself looks abit of a rabbit Warren on the inside, with lots of rooms of different corridors, it seemed easy to get lost, we meet a few people not really sure where they were, or should be. Our room was in the Coach House, which is joined to the main hotel, by a good corridor. The room itself was very good, lots of space and a excellent bathroom. |The breakfast was very good, and the evening meal was tasty and well presented, but the menu was small.|We will be returning to the Royal Victoria, and hope the scaffolding has gone, the work being carried out, did not effect our stay.
