Great place to stay while in Llanberis. Enjoyed a 2 night stay here with my girlfriend. The staff was all very nice, the place is clean and tidy so no complaints. The only thing I would say is the beds are quite firm, so was a bit uncomfortable at times, other than that it was a great stay and would consider coming back again. More...

Stayed this weekend on a one night Secret Escapes deal in a classic room in the main building, plus breakfast and a champagne afternoon tea upon arrival. All was excellent, room spacious, clean and a very comfy superking bed. The afternoon tea was delicious with assorted sandwiches, scones, jam and cream plus 8 different pieces of assorted cakes including Christmas cake. Breakfast was very tasty with plenty of choice, both hot and cold buffet plus several ‘to order’ options including Welsh kippers in butter. A lovely hotel with stunning views from the breakfast room plus the fab mountain views from our dual aspect corner bedroom. Will definitely return. More...

Stayed here at the weekend with a group of friends and had a great time. Great welcome from staff at reception when we arrived. Pizza and a few drinks in the bar at lunchtime, then a fantastic time at the party in the evening. Everyone in the group commented that their food was hot and tasty. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and the french ladies welcoming everyone to the restaurant, table decorations and then the dancers after the meal all added to the experience, also a casino and disco meant great value and there was something for everyone. Staying over meant we didn’t have to worry about taxi’s to get home and the buffet breakfast cured a few sore heads on Sunday morning. A lot of thought had gone into the whole thing and we can’t wait to see what the theme is next year. More...

We are here for a weekend away the hotel staff are so accommodating, we wanted to change rooms so we could see the mountain more they helped us change and it was not a problem. We had food in the bar and it was like eating in a restaurant amazing food we had the steak it was cooked to perfection, with fresh battered onions rings fries and salad. There is also a restaurant within the hotel so I can only imagine the food there is as good as in the bar. Great location also right at the bottom of mount snowden to explore. If you are visiting Snowdonia this place is a must, clean nice rooms, great views, and amazing food! More...

The hotel is ideally located for this purpose being closer to the start line than the official baggage drop and not too far to stagger from the finish. ||||The rooms (classic double) are basic, but clean. I can really recommend the restaurant. We went for a quiet couple of days with a view to pushing the boat out a little and I can say the restaurant was a big part in us managing that. Great wine selection to go with the very careful and well thought out, fresh and interesting food. 3 courses for £30pp but I've never had lamb as perfectly cooked as that. More...

We stayed at the Royal Victoria Hotel to catch up with friends who were already booked in for the weekend. We got the last room (an executive room 202) for the Saturday night. Parking was plentiful and free of charge and booking in was straight forward with friendly reception staff. We had read reviews which stated the hotel was tired and the staff unfriendly. I agree that some parts of the hotel do look tired but there was also plenty of evidence of improvements. Our room was very clean, comfortable and well equipped and had a terrific view looking over the gardens towards Llanberis and the lake. The hotel was full and very busy with lots of people who were participating in the Snowdonia Marathon. We did not have any experiences of unfriendly staff but found them all very welcoming and helpful. The meals we ordered in the bar were very good and even though the hotel was busy we did not have to wait long for them to be brought to the table. Breakfast was very busy but again the wait for a table was minimal and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and will certainly visit again. As a hotel location for the Snowdonia Marathon, you couldn't get anything better than the Royal Victoria, being a few hundred metres from the start. We stayed with a group of runners from our running club who have been using the hotel for many years.||||Bits of the hotel are outdated, some parts have been modernised and some parts are looking a bit tired, no different from what you expect from this type of hotel.||||Our room (double) was clean and functional, no complaints.||||Breakfast in the restaurant was buffet and very good. Everything was being replenished by the staff, so nothing ran out. On Saturday morning (race day) we had a lighter breakest, but made up with the full works on Sunday morning.||||We had a few drinks in the bar, but didn't eat in the hotel as the restaurant was fully booked and couldn't accomidate our group, so ate in another restaurant in town.||||Only complaint was that when we came back to the hotel just after 10pm, it wasn't possible to buy a coffee or hot drink, as all the machines had been turned off, which seemed very strange. We had a mini break here organised through secret escapes, we weren’t quite sure what to expect as the hotel only has three stars, and given that the main part of the hotel accommodation is in a rather unattractive 70s block I can sort of understand where that came from. The rooms were actually rather nice with large super king beds, shower gel and shampoo and good quality fluffy towels. The only downside is that the floors are really creaky so we were tiptoeing around In case we disturbed anybody that might be in the room below. The service was also very good, very welcoming reception staff and everyone in the restaurants was extremely helpful.||The rest of the hotel is lovely; we ate in the hotel bar both nights and the food was excellent. We were particularly impressed with the two 8 ounce steaks with fries coleslaw and salad along with a bottle of very nice Malbec for £35 for the two of us. Breakfast buffet was also fantastic, huge selection including a very large pot of creamy porridge which given the weather was much appreciated. The hotel is ideally located for the Snowdon railway if you don’t fancy doing the climb up there. There isn’t a huge amount in Llanberis itself, a lot of climbing/mountaineering shops and a few cafes again the location is just so lovely. We will certainly go back again if we’re in the area. A great placed hotel for a walk up Snowdon, straight across from the hotel follow the road and there you start the Llanberis Path. |The hotel looks quite grand but it is in desperate need of a makeover.Take a walk around the hotel and down the corridors and you can see it’s dated. The twin rooms are quite small but have everything you need for a stay. The bathroom needed a proper clean and the mould removing from the shower area with a brighter build and a lick of paint it’d be great. The shower was lovely and hot and the water pressure enough to pin you to the back wall.|There can be quite a lot of noise from the corridor as the room is quite small and you are nearer the door. There is a selection of teas and some coffee on a tray with a kettle to make your own hot drinks.|I ordered room service which turned up quite quickly, unfortunately the steak burger was missing the advertised cheese and the fries were wedges !!|Breakfast although advertised as continental was going to be a disappointment but on arrival they did actually have sausages, eggs, beans etc for a full English. The coffee machine making all sorts at a push of a button was great and a welcome change from “pre-made coffee” in a pot.Help yourself to whatever and as much as you like. The different breads were a nice surprise and well worth smearing some jam on them after toasting.|The car park can get quite full meaning driving around or trying to park in the coach house area. There is a larger car park a very short walk from the hotel.|The Snowdon train is also a very short walk from the hotel if you don’t feel like the walk up.|A walk into town recommended where you’ll find the local shop with a Subway inside.Petes eats is a short walk away and recommended by the locals for almost anything you want.|Although the hotel needs a refurb we’d still come back but try and get a deal on the rooms. Paid £170 for 2 nights, it’s a 3 star so the price isn’t a giveaway but the hotel is very well appointed, comfortable and clean, I used the restaurant on both evenings, £6 for starters and most mains were around £12, here again, not the cheapest but the food is really good and well presented, the staff are excellent and assist promptly with any requests most of the time (read on), the breakfast is also excellent with an “eat as much as you like” style buffet with everything imaginable for a good start to the day. The only negative I had was, I filled the card left in the room regarding maintenance, (my room had no Lux shower/shampoo gel (empty) and one of the bulbs had gone on the bedside wall), took to reception as per instruction at 10am, on my return neither had been rectified, I went to reception on my way to dinner that night and informed Ruth (very pleasant lady) on the desk that nothing had been done with my request who said “she would inform the duty manager “ surprisingly I never got my shower gel or bulb sorted, it fell on deaf ears, certainly not in keeping with anything else in this superb hotel.
