Today we attended the Rose & Crown for a baby shower and can't fault the experience we had. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and the Afternoon Tea was lovely! Would definitely recommend this venue for functions More...

Food was good but was let down by the waiter not knowing what a floater coffee was, presumably the chef didn't know either and the cream was brought to the table in a plastic bottle... there was then confusion over the bill.
All in all a bad evening for the staff...

My husband and I went to the Swan restaurant at the Rose and Crown. Actually the food would have been fine if the chef had taken a little more trouble. I had soup to start which was very nice but just not very hot. Then I had a chicken burger with garlic mayo which was lovely with whole pieces of chicken but not really enough garlic mayo so quite dry. Why not give you a little pot of it so you can have more if you want?I had asked for chunky chips but they were a little too chunky, in other words not properly cooked!! We went at 8pm and were the only people in the Swan restaurant. Maybe thats why? More...

Stayed at the Rose and Crown last night. This hotel is one to avoid. The room was dirty overlooking a kebab takeaway shop, between the smell of dampness and Indian food coming through the gaps in window frames was rough to give you the boke.
The telly was quiet a distance from the bed and due to its size was unwatchable without binoculars. My computer screen at home is bigger. Yes the hotel has some quirky points due to it being 400 years old, my mattress felt like it was one of the original features of the hotel. Booked into another hotel tonight for a better sleep.

One star only because I had to to write this review.

Been here before and had a fantastic meal, booked 2 months ago for a party of 16 for a 40th, 60th and 1st birthday expecting the same service, how wrong was I, 3 hours waiting and only a few starters served, soup was cold when it came out first time, crab ravioli fresh but no sauce dry and disgusting, rude manager, rude reception man just shrugged his shoulders when I ask for the manager, and laughed on his way to the reception, offered a round of free drinks due to the delay , couldn't even get that right, went to complain and had to wait around 10 mins for the manager to turn up, very apologetic but couldn't even give a reasonable reason as to why the delay,.

My wife went into the kitchen area to try and see what the problem was, only to see a sign saying meat and fish prep area with onions and cucumber on the chopping boards, .
What an absolute disgrace of a hotel, it should be SHUT DOWN, staff cannot even get a basic menu out, I have received better service at a motorway cafe, and better food.

What an absolute embarrassment in front of my family.

Forgot to add that there was also a 60 wedding anniversary party there as well, and they received the same disgusting service as we did, along with other diners in the normal restaurant.

Note to owners: get a grip sack the so called chefs, oh and sack your management, there is no passion in any of your staff

Lovely place , I only stayed one night as I was attending the annual Dirtquake event at the Adrian Flux Arena in Kings Lynn & really didn't fancy camping in a field at my age & associated aches & pains , the beds were really comfortable & just what I needed after being at a motorcycle race all day , I didn't try the evening menu deciding to venture out for a curry instead , but the breakfast was excellent & the 2 young ladies serving were refreshingly professional and a credit to the establishment , we have family in Swaffham nearby & would defiantly use this place again when we stay over , the old plumbing meant the showers to ages to warm up but hey I'd rather the quirky beauty of a 400 year old place with its beautiful wonky stairs & floors than a sterile new hotel any day , the Television in room 316 was impossible to watch as it kept pixelating & freezing so I had the radio on instead which was also a refreshing change , Thankyou for a lovely relaxing but all to brief visit I'll defiantly be back

What a lovely little find. Was lucky enough to get one of the Klfm vouchers for afternoon tea and we were thoroughly spoilt. Not just one cup of tea as we've had at previous venues but a pot and we were told to just ask if we wanted more. Lovely selection of finger sandwiches, fruit scones with jam and clotted cream and to top it off, a selection of delicious cakes. Sat in the library, feeling very posh and relaxed, watching the world go by. Definitely recommended. More...

Held our 50th wedding anniversary party in the Trumpet Hall on Saturday 29th October and had a great time. Buffet was great and the room was well set out.
Draft beer quality was poor but larger and bottled beer ok.
Several guests stopped up to three nights only problem was one room had no water due to a leak.
Fantastic breakfast on Sunday morning.
Well done Rose and Crown thanks for great memories.

I have too say my mother and I have had a latte and something too eat in the rose and crown for may years today we came in and I have too say it's gone down hill the tables were not cleared the waiter was rude when I asked if they did sweet potatoes chip his reply was well is it on the menu! The latte was so weak it was like warm milk we were given a spoon too short too stir it the side salad was pitifully and my baggett was stale..so hence too say we will not be returning! !! More...

It is old 400yrs old what can you expect. Stayed there to go to a party there some people had no electric in there room most of the weekend, some had know hot water, the telly was rubbish in our room the bathroom light over the mirror didn't work no mirror in another room, going up stairs was fun it was as if you were already drunk it was a bit like faulty towers. We enjoyed are weekend there never the less as it was a family get together but won't be going again. But the rooms were clean. More...

This place is a complete joke. They could not organise a piss up in a brewery. Avoid it at all costs especially group bookings. Went there with friend for a birthday celebration waited an hour for the first course which came out cold. Gave up with the main course after waiting another two hours ended up walking out and going over the road to the kebab take away. There was also another group booking there the same evening who were also very disgusted with the service and meal. More...

Absolutely disgusted with our visit yesterday, went for Fathers Day meal and it was a total shambles. No food was available at the serving area waited over 20 minutes for it. The staff are useless with no clue about waitressing, just looked at us like dumb struck chickens To top it all off, desserts were served with off cream!!! Will not be visiting again!!!! More...
