Revival Design Q&A

Revival Design Q&A

What makes a great website?

A great website depends on a number of things, consistency with the brand, a clear message, uncluttered design with easy to use functionality, great photography also helps. Then there is the SEO which is very important as there is no point having a window into your business if no one can see it.

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

When we first meet our clients we help them write the brief which is a great exercise as we can both earn a lot in the process, we would ask questions like:
What does your organisation do?
How long you have been established and how many staff you employ?
What your niche market is?
How you fit in to your industry sector?
Design Likes?
Design Dislikes?
Quantity and quality of text?
The atmosphere that the particular design creates?
Budget & timescale...

Describe your creative process.

Step 1.
Provide brie?ng document for the development of a draft project brief, this will determin key variables and guiding measures that will allow the project to move forward into the next step. The more detailed the brief the easier it is to determine your way of thinking and where you perceive yourself in the market place. Mood boards and colourways can also help.
Step 2. Concept Generation
In-line with the approved brief, generate initial concepts. Concepts will be a selection of electronic based logo visuals. Of all the works undertaken, a minimum of two concepts will be identi?ed and presented as basic application upon stationery.
Step 3. Design Development
With the approval of one proffered concept within Step 2, develop its design accordingly in line with the comments received. ‘Step 3. Design Development’ is limited to 2 rounds of ongoing directed amends.
Step 4. Artwork
Upon ?nal approval on one proffered design, generate all required master artwork versions (Colour, Mono & Greyscale) and create standard ? le formats (EPS, TIF & JPG).

What information do you need from a client before you can start work?

We would need a detailed brief from the client to proceed with any work.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the creative process, turning the clients brief into reality, this is very satisfying.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I started my own business because it felt right at the time, I had enough experience to go it alone.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have experience across a lot of disciplines from my early work as an art director in advertising through to my current work as a designer, all throughout I have used my illustration skills on different projects, I have a good all round knowledge of the industry and as a small business we don't charge like a large creative agency.
