Couples Counselling

She had worked for Relate. Someone had posted an unfavorable review so I knew that she would be honest and uncompromising. She is a good listener

Psychotherapy

I regret I found Ruth to be unprofessional and ready to take advantage of a vulnerable person. Beware!

Reply from Phoenix Rising

I am shocked and surprised by this review written by a person that I saw 18 months ago. She has completely misunderstood the situation. I do work in a responsible and professional way as other reviews affirm.

Counselling

Met this lovely lady with my 11yr old son, whom I was seeking counselling for. We are definitely returning for some sessions which we believe will help him out with his behavioural issues. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed and welcoming. More...

Q&As

I enjoy empowering and enabling people to move on to the next step in their lives. I also enjoy helping them to accept their weaknesses and finding and developing their strengths.

While working for Relate for ten years, I became aware of the enormous number of problems that people have. I was particularly concerned with the break down of couple relationships and wanted to begin a business which would support, heal and enrich couple relationships. I was particularly interested in helping people who had unexpected adversity in their lives as this makes life so much more complicated. I was also aware of the suffering that can be caused when children and their parents do not understand each other.

I am an experienced clinician with over thirty years of experience behind me in counselling and related research in to relationships. I have also had a rich and varied life quite outside of my work. I am well travelled and know about the experience of migration and disability from first hand experiences. While still an American, I have lived with my family in the UK since 1970 and have children and grandchildren.

I am happy to provide counselling online or remotely. I find FaceTime to be the better platform, but also use zoom.

I spray and clean the room with disinfectant cleanser between each client and social distancing is maintained at all times. Clients are also asked to use disinfectant gel when entering the counselling room. Handshakes are not permitted, but touching elbows is.
