I booked a standard double room. I was going to book a single occupancy room, but the website did not show that it had a desk. As I was staying for business reasons I needed a desk to work once I had checked in, which was a £4 upgrade, so not the end of the world.

On the website stated that if wanted breakfast then I would have to upgrade again to a twin room and increase the cost again by £10. 1) I didn't want a twin single bedroom 2) I wasn't that bothered about breakfast so decide to just go with a standard double.

When I checked in I was told that breakfast was included even though it didn't mention it on the website. £10, saved!! So be careful, when looking at the hotels website, I suggest that you contact the hotel via the phone to confirm what is and isn't included as the website is very misleading.

So I've checked in and the first "big" issue crops up. The key... well the key fob to be precise, as it is about 6 inches long!! It's not a card entry system and trying to store a key (and key fob) upon yourself is going to be pain (See pictures). I'm sorry there is no reason for it to be that big!!! Now for the biggest issue if you want a good night's sleep. The damp in the room (See photos). After just a couple of hours of being the room all my clothes are damp and I can feel the dampness whilst breathing (this was the case from entering the room). The pillows are damp, the sheets are damp, everything is damp.

I'm staying in what I suspect is the old stable block rather than the main house, so it may be better in there.

The long and short of it is that I will not be staying here again!

Staff are helpful and friendly, and able to deal with my chronic health conditions with the grace that is so often lacking in hotels. When it was explained that my cfs causes me to overheat easily (and that the room we were in was a sun box) they upgraded us and brought in a fan, locating us in a shady room with a beautiful view. My gluten intolerance has been handled perfectly, and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a gorgeous place to stay that you can trust to stay on the ball. For you coffee snobs, yes they make a lovely coffee too ????

We went there for Sunday lunch. The bar and wait staff in the restaurant were really kind polite and professional. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The lunch was £24 but was buy one get one free for 3 courses. I had the roast beef sunday lunch which was really tasty. I initially thought that the wait between courses was a little bit too long, however by the time I had eaten my main course, which was a large portion before they had even brought the vegetables to the table, I was greatful for a long break between courses. We are going back again for Sunday lunch. The surroundings to this hotel is really really beautiful and when the weather is warmer it would be nice to sit outside with a cool drink.

I attended my sister's wedding and found the location easily in Shifnal. The day was slightly delayed by 20 minutes but worth the wait as they set up - evening buffet was great at the reception too. Price of the pint: £4.50-£5. Bar tenders friendly and approachable staff.

Great rooms and food. In the middle of town but feels like out in the country. 5 mins from trains.

I went on a walking weekend and used the hotel as a base. Excellent room. Good beds. Clean. Restaurant excellent. Has a gin menu. Did not use as driving and walking but looked interesting. Quite room even though the hotel looks very popular with wedding parties. Easy to get to off the M54.

It's a nice venue and the food was good but I'm not keen on the aspect of sharing your wedding venue with other weddings. In fact, a few years ago I went to a wedding here and actually ended up walking in to the wrong one, it put me off entirely.

We stayed here for 2 nights in a standard double room bed and breakfast. The room was away from the main hotel in an annex with 4 rooms per annex.
The room was surprisingly large with a double bed dressing table and 2 chairs and table. Although there was a lot of furniture the room did not feel cluttered.
The bathroom is large with a bath and overhead shower and there are plenty of towels and complimentary shampoo and body wash.
The hotel has a lovely indoor pool which is heated and towels are provided in the changing rooms. The pool was deserted so I had it all to myself.
Breakfast is excellent with a a good choice of hot and cold options.
I cannot fault this hotel and will definatly return.

Very bad experience with this hotel, very poor management and communication leaving us hundreds of pounds out of pocket after double booking wedding accommodation!!
With an outright refusal to admit any liability or meet our costs..... Don't rush your money or waste your time.... They are cheap for a reason

Nice big room. Although very hot and no way of cooling it down. Comfortable bed. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Clean. Food at the party night was disappointing, not very hot and a little bland in flavour. Disco was good though.

We visited for a casino night themed Christmas party. I was disappointed by the theme as it wasn't followed through. There were only two casino tables, both of which too busy for our party to use. The theme was not followed through in decoration. The food was fine, but the dessert was very disappointing, to the point of being inedible. Overall we did enjoy the party, and will visit again.

Dined at Butler's Restaurant.

Absolute disaster of a meal. Entered the bar, waited for 10 minutes to be served or even acknowledged, even though a manager saw us waiting and peered around the door about 3 or four times without approaching.

No apology for the wait, and the first thing we were told was that they had run out of about 6 things on the menu, including 3 out of 4 of the desserts. Ordered the food, came with two roast potatoes and a choice of two infinitely uninspiring-looking veg. Pork didn't come with advertised applesauce, asked for that, no apology again and told that it doesn't come with applesauce. (It does.)

Thoroughly thoroughly average food, as if the chef couldn't be arsed on a Sunday night and had run out of everything.

3 overdone lamb cutlets for £16.95 each... Apparently a four star hotel, but I got better food at the 3+ all inclusive buffet when I went to the Costa Del Sol last summer.

Went to my friends wedding the staff were all very friendly and efficient. Everything went smoothly and the rooms were laid out as requested. Only issue i noticed was that it took quite a while for the room for the evening reception to be prepared. But couldn't fault them otherwise. Bedrooms were lovely too. Bar drinks were not cheap but as expected. Honeymoon suit was absolutely gorgeous!
