Great place to stay for walks round Rutland Water. Very clean hotel rooms with super friendly staff. Nice local villages and towns all around within a few mins drive. Would definitely go back.

We stayed a week in a two bedroom lodge over Christmas. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The lodge was tastefully furnished and had some expensive cutlery, crockery and crystal glasses. The only problem was the lodge was very cold and there were instructions on the storage heaters that we were not to adjust the settings. The leisure centre has a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, small gym, tennis courts, mini golf and a nine hole golf course (not used in winter). The bar/restaurant is very busy and has free wifi. Barnsdale Hall has free wifi. However, the lodges do not have any wifi currently which is a huge negative factor in this day and age. I hear that there will be wifi from around April 2020 and smart TVs in the lodges. More...

Barndale hall is an excellent location for tranquilly of peace quiet in a beautiful setting overlooking Rutland Water. The resort is set in lush gardens on the north east bank of Rutland Water. Excellent leisure facilities are available on site at the fully equipped Sports Centre with a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool, squash court, sauna, steam room, gymnasium and personal trainer or beautician as required. The detached lodge accommodation is private, well equipped and very comfortable. Utilities are charged at cost price per kilowatt hour. I would not hesitate to visit the resort again preferably in Spring or Summer, whist tennis and golf facilities are available. More...

We spent a week at this splendid location as part of our time share exchange. Our accommodation was in one of the self standing A frame chalets, overlooking Rutland Water, the largest man-made reservoir in the UK. The kitchen appliances were modern and it was nice to see a single unit washer/dryer included in the kitchen. All crockery was either Royal Albert or Royal Doulton, a nice touch. The nearby historic town of Oakham is well worth a visit. Places like Cambridge and Duxford (air museum) are also within 2 hours drive. Lots of lovely walking trails on site. There is accommodation for two adults on the upper level of the chalet as well but that's quite cramped. The main floor bedroom sleeps two and the sofa bed in the living area can accommodate two as well. More...

Lovely location. Nice room, clean and spacious. Bed comfortable, but pillows were very hard. Bar food snack menu quite expensive and not brilliant. Jacket potato not quite fully cooked, tuna sandwich bread a bit dry and baked Brie wedges-some under and some over cooked. The bar meals, however, looked good and better value for money. Would stay again, but take our own pillows! The room cost represented very good value. More...

One of the most relaxing Time Shares in the UK. Difficut to get an exchange through RCI Pestana. Book well in advance. Cant follow web site so have to make frequent calls to RCI to check availability. Food is available in restaurant ( beautiful but very expensive) and the bar who have a reasonable menu but can get very crowded and had insufficient stall. Had to queue for 20 minutes to give order.||We have had various appartments and chalets and always had a very good holiday whatever the weather. More...

Popped in to see where our next family wedding will be, and they were set up for a lovely wedding outside. The backdrop to the wedding couple would be Rutland lake. The reception room look so romantic and fairytale. It looked like a dream. The staff were great, very helpful letting us check things out as they were busy setting up the room. It looked perfect for a wedding, I hope out Son and daughter-in-law's will look that good. Hopefully the Roses will be dead headed and well watered to keep them flowers for us this time next year.
