I am a professional interpreter, translator, tutor in French, Portuguese with 18 years experience. I have a passion for languages and I take pride in sharing this knowledge with others. I offer my services online. I As a tutor I adapt my lessons to my students’ needs whether it’s to take an exam or simply for a business purpose. I am half French and half Portuguese. I teach children, GCSE, A level, Common Entrance exams and adults. My lessons are interactive with lots of practice using online support. Other languages are available upon request. I organise online intensive classes during the holidays. A small group of 7 students can join one hour classes to reinforce learning. During this small group, children are encouraged to interact with other children. I will teach about the different tenses in French which are required for GCSE. As an interpreter, translator I work in Public services such as court, NHS and with private clients. I translate birth certificates, marriage certificates, business and legal documents. I am a member with the The Chartered Institute of Linguists and the National Registry of Interpreters.

What do you love most about your job?

I am passionate about languages and I have always wanted to do a job that involves languages. I love sharing my knowledge with students and seeing them shining in their progress. I am fortunate to have a job I love. I love helping people and seeing the results. I’ve learned a lot about working with different types of customers and people from around the continent. I’ve enjoyed being able to help people directly over the phone and spread knowledge I’ve learned about our products.”

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always had a passion for languages. I was brought bilingual French/Portuguese in Paris. I wanted to learn more languages so I decided to study languages at the University of La Sorbonne since it's a very good university. I loved it so much that I looked for careers which would involve speaking the languages. I first started working for the Stock Exchange, enabling me to practice my languages with people around the world. I decided to get an interpreting qualification which allowed me to interprete in many settings. When I first came to England I was a French assistant at the University of Wolverhampton where I was able to teach students and create French courses for the English students. Since I have continued teaching enlarging my public and now I teach children and adults. I love to see my student shining in their learning!

Why should our clients choose you?

I have a passion for languages that I would like to share with my clients. I have years of teaching and translation experience. I am patient, kind.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

I provide my service online as with the Covid situation people are more unlikely to travel.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I encourage my clients to switch to remote tuition and interpreting.

Birchwood Tutors has been an incredible resource for my son, Denis. His tutor, Mia, is simply outstanding! She is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also kind, patient, and approachable. Mia has a natural talent for making complex topics understandable and enjoyable, which has made a huge difference in Denis’s academic progress. His confidence and skills have improved tremendously under her guidance. Additionally, Isobel in customer service is a gem! She is always kind, supportive, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure everything runs smoothly. Her professionalism and warmth make working with Birchwood Tutors a pleasure. I couldn’t recommend Birchwood Tutors more highly – their dedication and personalized approach have been a game-changer for us. Thank you, Mia and Isobel, for everything!
