What do you love most about your job?

Sharing my love of dogs, training and behaviour with a wider audience. I love the consultative approach to help owners achieve their best.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Whilst training within rescue and the assistance dog world is very rewarding, I feel as though I am missing out on the customer service side and helping people directly. I want to go beyond and help dogs in homes and real life situations.

Why should our clients choose you?

Since childhood, I have been passionate about animals. My journey into the world of dog training began when I was just 7 years old, following the arrival of our rescue Patterdale Terrier, Mylo. With his adorable face and impressive hunting skills, Mylo also came with several behavioural challenges which I eagerly sought to address. It wasn’t until I completed school and pursued animal-specific studies that I truly comprehended the complexities of dog behaviour and discovered a deep-seated passion for behavioural modification and training.

I went on to study for a BSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare, which paved the way for my career as a zookeeper, where I had the privilege of working with a diverse range of species. My love for training continued to grow as I developed and implemented training programs for the various animals in my care. Although these animals were far more exotic than dogs, the experience significantly refined my training skills. After leaving the zoo in 2019 and spending two years working and travelling in Australia, I was certain I wanted to specialise in dog behaviour upon my return to the UK.

At the beginning of 2022, I moved to London and joined one of the UK’s largest rescue centres as a Canine Behaviourist and Training Advisor. In this role, I worked with a wide array of breeds, from Chihuahuas to Mastiffs, addressing common behavioural issues in pet dogs. In October 2022, I commenced my part-time studies in Clinical Animal Behaviour at the University of Lincoln. Recognised as one of the world’s leading institutions, this course equipped me with extensive knowledge in managing complex behaviour cases, employing a psychobiological approach to assess, diagnose, and treat behavioural issues.

In the summer of 2024, I concluded my time in London and, accompanied by my rescue Staffie, Evie, returned to my home in the North East. I now serve as a Dog Training Instructor for one of the UK’s largest assistance dog charities and also extend my expertise through Proud Pups Canine Behaviour and Training services, dedicated to helping you and your dog foster a deeper understanding and a harmonious relationship.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
