Jacky tutored my daughter in Year 6 when she was struggling with her writing and spelling due to dyslexia and had lost some confidence. Jacky re-engaged her with phonics and built up her confidence by making sure the foundations were in place. Jacky really does care about her students and their welfare, she is fun and kind, and my daughter looked forward to her time with Jacky and being in a 1:1 learning situation. I recommend her highly and wouldn’t hesitate to engage her again for my daughter. More...

I would like to thank Jackie from our whole family. She has been tutoring my girls for nearly 2 years now. And not only have they loved her lessons, my girls have absolutly blossomed in their reading and writing skills. My girls had both had delayed formal education and then had lock down on top of it. So for my eldest she didn't start formal education until the age of 8, nearly 9. Meaning she had not had any key stage 1 teaching and only half of keystage 2. However in two years of tutoring with Jackie my daughters can now confidently read and write at their expected age level. Not only was Jackie very thourough in her teaching on phonics ect what I really want to thank her for, is for boosting my girls confidence. With her support and her gentle caring attention she gave to my girls, their confidence blossomed, with not only their reading and writing skills but also in school and within their friendship groups. It has been an absolute joy to invite Jackie in to our home to tutor our children. She has a kind and gentle approach and most of all makes her sessions fun and enjoyable, and even provides the children will small gifts and prizes when they have passed certainly mile stones in their work. My son who is only 5 has been eagerly waiting to join her with her tutoring sessions and I will often find he has crept in to hear her read a story. I can't recomend Jackie at 'Work of Heart Tutoring' enough. I am so greatful for all the hard work and dedication she has shown my girls, in helping them get to the stage they are at now. Thankyou Jackie xxx Claira More...

Jackie at Work of Heart Tutoring is a wonderful tutor. She has worked with my twins for a number of years now and has helped them achieve greater depth standard at their Primary School. Jackie has so much passion for tutoring and has a great attention to detail. One of our twins was not writing with her pencil in the correct way and Jackie even managed to sort that out for us. You can't go wrong with Work of Heart Tutoring.

Thanks again Jackie for all your assistance.

Q&As

I love seeing a child beginning to enjoy learning, engaging with enjoyment and interest. I love to see the child progress step by step with encouragement.

I was tutoring children at a charity centre who needed help with English in Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. I was greatly encouraged by a parent who was very pleased with his child's progress. After working with the charity a year or so later he asked if I could tutor his other children and this encouraged me to start my own business in 2016, tutoring on a one-to- one basis at my home.

I have many years of experience in teaching, qualified as a teacher in 1986. I have a gift at being able to discern the specific help a child requires in English and plan carefully to meet those needs. I have training as part of my degree course in tutoring children with specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia. I have almost completed a long distance diploma in 'Understanding and Managing Dyslexia' and have received 'Distinction' for most of the study papers so far. I have a kind, patient approach.

I prefer to tutor the child in person, but would be willing to tutor online using 'Zoom.' I have tutored children online in very recent years as well as in person.

When the country was under restrictions due to Covid, I tutored online. When masks were compulsory, I wore a mask as did the student. I tested myself before tutoring. When restrictions were more relaxed I wore a face visor. I washed my hands regularly using anti-bacterial hand wash. I have had all vaccines required.

Services

I tutor English to children in key Stages 1, 2 and 3 (Ages 5 to 15) on a one-to-one basis. My tutoring includes any area of English the child needs help with: reading, handwriting, spelling, grammar and punctuation, also creative writing. I tailor the sessions to meet the individual child's learning requirements, using a variety of resources depending on the learning need. I tutor children who show signs of dyslexia or have a diagnosis. I have helped children succeed in their English SATs exams including dyslexic children. I have understanding and experience of tutoring children with Adhd and autism, also students who are not in school and finding education difficult.
I have many years of teaching experience including the past eight years as a private English tutor.
