Quick and friendly, came and priced job and completed it within a few days

I used this company to build my fence and gate, there was a few snags with the work which were sorted out instantly (wobbly fence pannels) and a few other things to which were fixed when owner came to inspect it adding an couple extra posts and fixing what was wrong. a few moments of complications with the job at first. Apparently I didn’t want a gate as they put both fences up and thought the job was done which was confusion on both ends myself included thinking the job was not finished so I didn’t give the money and themselves thinking it was complete to which I didn’t pay them so then there was a heated Conversation over the phone but in my quote I wanted an gate which wasn’t the case for the owner of company. the same owner of the company formally apologised for his mistakes as it was stated in the quote I wanted a gate he apologised nocked some money off the price of the gate and added money to the quote which should of stayed put but I believe in second chances and apologies. Finished all the jobs with himself over looking the finished product

We hired Valley Landscapes to install a large split level patio and to render an existing block work wall, we provided scale drawings showing how we wanted everything and made a point of talking through everything before they started any work, we even have another patio (Fitted by another company) for them to copy, from the outset we were assured by Keith that they could copy the existing patio (The other contractor was booked for over a year hence the reason to try Valley Landscapes to do the work) once the work started the edgings fitted were nothing like the ones on the existing patio so we had to ask them to stop before they got more than a few meters and then we were asked to pay an additional £400 for edgings that more accurately matched the ones on the existing patio these “perceived” changes adding to the agreed costs, Keith even rang the company who fitted our other patio to find out what the edgings were despite previously saying they knew what they were and could get, what was eventually fitted is a closer match but not the same as the existing patio edging.
When the work was started (Around September 2023) we had rain for weeks and this may have hampered work, however we told Keith and Colin to leave the work until things improved if to not do so would compromise the job, however they carried on regardless, because of this we have a poor job, to be frank the work was beyond their abilities.
The patio has many loose slabs, areas not grouted correctly, the steps are uneven and have exposed dangerous edges and random cuts, Colin was asked to lift a large slab he had fitted that was sticking up by about 20mm, instead of doing this correctly he cut the slab in half (Changing the design and layout) and put the resulting two pieces back still uneven both coming down in the centre were they join, which now means water puddles in this spot. The steps are like broken teeth, uneven, bitty and not correctly stuck down, the mortar just flakes away. The render on the wall all fell off with Keith saying they would come back to re do the work later as he was waiting for surgery and could not drive Colin to the job, so we waited about 6 months for them to return even though I saw Keith driving at various times going to other jobs before eventually coming back to us!
In the end after returning to try and remedy these issues we asked Valley Landscapes to leave the wall and other issues, despite paying around £8000 for the work we just wanted them to go away in the end.
Net result is after paying around £8000 we have a poor patio, a wall with most of the render missing and overall a poor job. Why did you pay them (In full, before Christmas 2023) I hear you ask?
Well because I still like to think the best of people and hoped they would be able to correct the issues I mention here, unfortunately it was evident they could not, I could have taken legal action but life is too short to be honest so have decided not to at the time of writing.
So in summary, I will have to try and make a poor job a better one by doing remedial work on the patio myself and at additional cost, otherwise after the winter comes and once the weather gets into the gaps etc. the patio is likely to get even worse.
I would not recommend or use this company again.

We are extremely pleased with the transformation of our unruly garden.
Keith & Colin responded to our request immediately & worked tirelessly throughout horrendous weather conditions. All renovation work,including paving,fencing & turfing has been carried out efficiently & completed to a high standard.
Every stage of landscaping project was discussed & no payment requested until satisfactory completion.
Nothing was too much trouble & would have no hesitation in recommending them.
We will continue to use them for monthly maintenance.

We hired Valley landscapes to carry out a number of jobs in our garden. One was to remove ivy from a wall, including removing the roots. The roots were not removed, they were buried with topsoil and when I discovered they were still there he was very confrontational about it.

We had an ornamental grassed area surrounded by bricks and gravel that we wanted removing and returfing. After two months there are now dead patches on the freshly laid turf in the exact outline where the brickwork was. I requested that the concrete bed be removed but it now looks like this was not the case. I also requested a weed barrier as our old lawn was covered in dandelions however it is not evident as there are an excessive amount coming up through the lawn now.

I also had them build a raised bed for a vegetable patch, they used the topsoil from another part of the garden however they did not remove the weeds and I am constantly having to remove them now.

The biggest job we hired them to do was to build a sunken seating area. We discussed the plan and I drew a rough sketch and showed them an image online for an idea of what we wanted. During the process I queried various elements only to be spoken down to in a condescending manner. The build quality is very poor, so much so we are having to re do the seating area ourselves. There were no sidewalls put along the entry steps and since it has rained the land has slipped into the seating area.

Unfortunately I can't recommend this company, they didn't even let us know they were leaving for the final time, they drove off and left our garage door open. To say I am disappointed is an understatement after spending a considerable sum on our garden. I sincerely hope I am not also branded a spiteful old lady for leaving an honest review. More...

Quality work, thank you Keith and Colin. I live in a very windy area so had lots of broken fence panels and loose posts. They removed my current fencing and gates . Erected new posts securely seated in cement. Sourced the timber and built the fences, double gate and side gate on-site. From first contacting kith regarding my garden project to our first time meeting everything went very smoothly. He was able to explain how to implement my ideas and yeah best way to go about it. I had used Valley landscapes for several years but recently I found the cost of work was escalating to the point that I felt that I was being fleeced. I needed more than one job done recently and I found the price exorbitant and so I chose to just have only the fence renewed. Keith seemed to think that I should have all work done with him. He pulled his workmen off the job and said that if I was going to use another firm for other work, then they could do the fence too. He was extremely rude and bullying.
