After receiving quotes from 5 solar companies I decided to go with Ukenergi based in Doncaster. They were the only company to do a site visit and were fairly local to me. TBH I expected a high price to cover that cost and possibly a pushy salesperson. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Tracy was with us 4 hours planning and discussing our requirements. I had lots of questions! We ended up with a much better option for us due to the site visit. I would have had less panels with other companies who hadn’t considered putting the panels on different aspects of our roof. I told them I wanted panels on my garage only so this is what other companies quoted for. Tracy gave us other options to consider. She wasn’t pushy. Initially I wanted 2 batteries. Obviously it was our decision to make however she suggested that as we are low users one battery would likely be sufficient and we could always add another later although it would be dearer than having 2 batteries initially. She hid nothing regarding pricing and was very open and honest. The overall price was competitively priced taking in to consideration the extra panels. We took the plunge and our panels were installed a couple of weeks later. Ukenergi took care of the application for the DNO and we had nothing to do. Communication is excellent and they are always available to answer any questions.
The installation went well and whilst the electrician had a difficult install he couldn’t have been more helpful. Everyone did an excellent job with all wiring neatly secured. They left the site clean and tidy. The electrician stayed late and then came back day after to finalise the set up for us. The only slight issue was with the scaffolding company that they use. They caught our garage door with the scaffold poles and left a couple of small scratches. Ukenergi took ownership and dealt with the issue to our satisfaction. Ukenergi could not have dealt with this any better and I am extremely happy with the way they dealt with the issue. I highly recommend Ukenergi and if it hadn’t been for the scaffolders this would have been the perfect install. I booked an appointment with Tracey very knowledgeable and helpful. Place an order for panels and battery. From there on in everything was so easy, the guys who fitted the system were excellent couldn’t ask for anymore 👍

Throughout the entire process, every single person I have spoken with at UK Energi has been polite, helpful and professional.

The salesman, Paul, was friendly and knowledgeable. Unlike other companies, who quote online using maps, Paul visited us in person. He obtained measurements of the roof and property to ensure the sizing of the installation quoted was as accurate as possible. Paul then worked with us subsequently to ensure we had a system that would deliver for our needs.

Following the discussions with Paul, we then had a query about the quote documentation. So, I contacted the office and was able to discuss my query with Jenny, who was again friendly and helpful despite my undoubtedly silly questions!

Once our deposit was paid, we then had the pleasure of speaking with Peter, who was our project manager. Peter ensured we had the right information relating to scaffolding installation, timings for the onsite team doing the installation and subsequent scaffolding removal. Again, just as with everyone else at UK Energi, Peter was happy to handle my queries, responding to text messages past normal working hours where warranted.

And so we reached the installation. The Scaffolders were prompt and on time.. and fast! The scaffolding was installed both front and rear of the property in under 3 hours, and the team were friendly with it.

On the day of installation, the UK Energi van with the roofers and the equipment to be installed on the roof arrived, again promptly. They wasted no time at all in getting set up, checking the scaffolding, unloading the various fittings for the panels and getting started. It should come as no surprise that the roofers were just as friendly as their other colleagues in UK Energi.

A couple of hours later, the electrician arrived to begin the inverter and battery installation. Equally friendly and helpful, he explained certain aspects of the installation to my enquiring mind, and additionally worked with me to ensure that I could leverage a wired network connection to my house for the inverter instead of a wireless one. The installation of the equipment on the wall was completed exceptionally neatly.

The on-site team worked fantastically together, and the only delay for the electrician at the end was with some niggles commissioning the system with Givenergy.

By great fortune, the first full day of the system being installed was a sunny one, and the impact of this on my electricity consumption was dramatic, with large parts of my day seeing the smart meter reporting usage of electricity at 0!

The scaffolding was removed a couple of weeks later. This is longer than normal due to the Scaffolders having a week's holiday in the mix, however it was no inconvenience to us.

The part of the process that is out of UK Energi's control is that with the DNO, who are responsible for issuing the certification and documentation that permits setup of an export tariff. At time of leaving this review (1 month after installation), we are still waiting for this documentation. I understand that this is far from uncommon, however this has absolutely not stopped Jenny at UK Energi coming to the rescue! Jenny has been pushing the DNO (even including me in the email trail!) to get this for me as quickly as possible. Given all the other interactions so far, I've no doubt that this, too, will be resolved very soon.

Tracy was a brilliant, knowledgable and friendly advisor. The installation crew headed up by Rudi were very conscientious and my rather complicated after-sales service and help have been attended to with courtesy and efficiency! Would certainly recommend.

Had solar panels and a home battery fitted at our home. Everything from the initial conversation about what we would like to the survey and install happened without a hitch. We couldn't fault Joe, he was so polite, friendly and knowledgeable, like the entire team. Nothing was ever to much for anyone.

Everything from initial contact with Harry went very well, slight problem with the number of panels on the roof ( sorted out on day of installation). Received a call back from Joe after completing an online comparison form somewhere and from start to finish all went well with no pressure. Joe managed to give me a good idea of what we would be looking at and a price within about 45 min phone call and sent me over all the details to go over.

As I was juggling a few home projects agreed a check in date which was stuck too and wasn’t bother in the interim. Very competitive price and the team were happy to answer any questions I had.

Pretty flexible with install date and then all happened pretty swiftly after the survey and cool off period scaffolding the day before install and then the panels battery and invert the next. Good demo of how to use the app and all the safety bits you need to know about also on the day of install
