My wife and I had Neil for our wedding and he was unbelievable. Not only was he taking photos but he was interacting with guests and blending in which was really good to see. He was dressed very very smart for the occassion too. We had a few hiccups during the day and Neil was so good in keeping us both calm and comforting my wife when she was upset. The way he sees things before they happen and seeing opportunities for a great photo before anyone else does. For example, our son loved Neil and ran towards him during a group photo and Neil quickly moved to the side abd managed to get what will probably be the best photo of the big day just based on the humour of the moment. If you've never used Thetford photography and you are looking for photographers then I'd look no further! If you just want a photographer I would say, go with Neil every time. However, Neil is so much more than ‘just’ a photographer. He is creative, passionate, capable, responsible, a good organiser, compassionate, friendly, adaptable and the list goes on. I approached Neil with the question of could he help me, as I was after one photo of me that I could look at and say ‘wow’ and on a tight budget. The brilliant Neil photographed our two new holiday homes we are launching in North Norfolk. Seems there is nothing he can’t turn his hand to, he really attentively helped to dress the rooms to maximise the appeal of the properties, he really put us at ease and couldn’t do enough to support and set-up on the day. We hired Neil to do our daughter’s wedding and some photos of a graduation presentation, down to the professional way Neil conducted himself up to the wedding. On the wedding day, I was blown away with the friendly service, putting everyone at ease. Neil made the whole day even more enjoyable. We received a batch of teaser photos within a few days which were out of this world, capturing everyone including small children in candid and posed photos. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
My secret is to understand what the client is truly after, for some, it's serious and commercial for others it's informal, relaxed and playful. By understanding the client's requirements I can build a team and approach which delivers that result.
I will always have fun and we'll enjoy the process but the final images can be very different depending on your individual needs.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is your desire from the pictures, for work, business, family fun, treasured memories?
What locations/props do you require/including?
If a people shoot, who's involved and what are their ages (if under 18, approx ages for above)?
How do you want to use the pictures, online, print, canvases etc?
What do you love most about your job?
I love the interaction and joy that a wonderful photo session can provide and the smiles of pleasure delivering quality pictures afterwards.
With weddings, it's the thought that these images above all others will be looked at by generations and generations of that family, as they remember back or are told of their family in future years.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've always had a love for photography and always been arty and creative, the opportunity arose and I've grasped it with two hands and the reviews have been outstanding. I'm very lucky.
Why should our clients choose you?
I will always go above and beyond to deliver the highest quality, we'll move heaven and earth to try and deliver what you require, always calm and relaxed even when others may not. You'll have the best on your side throughout the process, before and after even lifting a camera.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
For face to face work, unfortunately, there is no alternative but for product photography and aerial shots, I can work autonomously in the studio or location with methods of discussing the shoot like Zoom meetings and digital proofs via email etc.
As with all work undertaken I ensure that social distancing is adhered to and now use longer lenses, 70-200 especially which ensure a greater distance is achieved, usually nearer 4-5m and adjustments to hair and garments are now done by the model themselves. If closer is required masks are used at all times.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I now have a specific Covid Risk Assessment and Method Statement to ensure your safety and mine. Hand sanitisers are in the studio at all time and locations shoots are set up with a handwashing station with soap.
Masks are always worn (reusable ones for the team) and disposable ones are there for clients if needed before and after distanced shots are being taken. No physical contact is permitted, and if needed hands are sanitised before and after any contact is made. Your safety is our No.1 priority.
