Well my previous research did reflect the Maidenhead office was a good place to book up. Initial meeting was booked at a convenient time for me. I turned up early and was offered coffee. The meeting went extraordinary well, very helpful information and focused on my requests and situation. The meeting then covered so much in a sensible fashion and ensuring I was happy with all information and options. I was so happy I confirmed that I'll proceed with them at this meeting. Sadly, not what I expected and would not recommend them. I dont know if they are actually a franchise even... but contacted them on their form. Received a call every day for 10 days, then mails every day for another 5 days, pretty intense. I called them asking for a meeting and take advantage of the 15 min free advise as I needed assistance with capital gains on my TR. I was told someone would call me to arrange. They never called, I just received an email stating the cost was £400 and do I want to go ahead. I responded stating was a bit surpised at this email and was then advised that good luck basically with finding any one that is qualified to do this job for less money. I would liked to have spoken to someone to even check I needed to pay the CG Tax. I have since found an engaging Tax Consultant, who did want to talk to me and is now processing my return. I needed to arrange a self assessment on an estate for which I was executor. From the initial contact by E mail everything was managed quickly and efficiently. An appointment was fixed a few days ahead and the accountant I met went through things ensuring I understood what needed to be done. The office was easily accessible and all staff were polite and interested. I have not yet bene informed that the task is complete so cannot comment on that but expect that it will be completed within a reasonable timescale. 2 weeks was suggested and that period expires today. I approached Tax Assist accountants as they offered a free 45 minute consultation. During which I was told they would provide a good service and said it was ok to sign up with them, reassuring me that I would received a schedule of services, terms of business and engagement documents straight away via email to review and respond to agree to (as there was little time to discuss in the short meeting). Despite chasing, I waited 47 days for communication from the Tax Assist accountant and still I received nothing. I had lost faith that I was valued as a client and such time had elapsed I had to look elsewhere for support for my new-start business (I really hoped that Tax Assist would provide the forms for me to read as promised). Despite no communication, Tax assist are trying to bill me for 'services' that are 'usually complementary' and seem to think its ok not to communicate. I am incredibly relieved to not be using them as there is no apparent service standard, but am also incredibly disappointed as I was given the impression that they would be a good choice. Based on my experience and having received no service standard, I cannot recommend them unfortunately. I only wanted what I was told would be sent to me and any communication. They also said that they would communicate any deadlines... then subsequently have said that (essential) HMRC deadlines weren't discussed. Just disappointing from my personal view and I hate leaving feedback like this. Others may experience differently, but I really needed some sort of communication as a new business. More...

I want to know when I will get my money back. Three of your accountants promised me consulting services, which were previously explained, and a price was set for their completion. However, six months after (mar/25 to oct/25) signing the contract and having paid 50% of the agreed amount, my email was simply blocked on 01/10/2025, and without any explanation, the work was abandoned without being completed. I started using TaxAssist in Durham about a year ago. My initial contact was going to the office and meeting Elliot, the director. It was a very pleasant and productive meeting, and I was given a lot of sound information about my Tax needs, as they are a bit more complex than the norm.
