This is a review for Laura Spence (Hot Hands Healing): Laura is simply amazing. The reiki + Inidian Head Massage therapy she performed was deeply relaxing and it soothed many pains. She took ample time to chat at first, and the massage felt like it lasted much longer than it did. I was absolutely delighted! I would give Laura 5 stars if I could find her business on Google Reviews, but since this is for Santosa Wellness (where she rents a therapy room), but the one star missing is for Santosa Wellness Centre itself. As it was raised in previous comments, the place does not feel very clean (the old carpets don't help) and an effort could be made to make the therapy rooms feel fresh and clean. More...

Full of flavour and crunch from the Beetroot and Carrots, I am looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu. Thanks Santosa Team that was yummy! 😋 More...

Staff were brilliant in making us feel welcome quiet place for a catch up I was conducting a meeting in a different language which I did not feel uncomfortable with in this space. Staff went above and beyond the call of duty of dealing with my order and meeting my requirements for a prayer space giving me their best room and making sure I had all the provisions I required and I had only ordered cups of tea! Which they do have a great range of yogi teas! Brilliant ladies and a beautiful attitude ? More...

We came across Santosa during the the chaos and vitality of the 2016 Edinburgh Festival. It was like a calm sanctuary, a place of peace and harmony, with wonderful Buddhist imagery and beautiful things to buy or admire. We loved it. The people working were kind and friendly, and the coffee was really really good! More...

Deep Tissue Massage
During a deep tissue massage, a firmer pressure is used and more specific attention is paid to muscle knots or trigger points.
If you have specific muscles or trigger points that need individual attention, a deep tissue massage can help ease tension, increase the range of motion, and relieve chronic pain.
Back, Neck & Shoulders
Back, neck and shoulders massage is the ideal solution to muscle tension caused by knots or postural problems in the upper body.
Release tension, increase your range of motion and relieve chronic pain with this essential massage.
Sweedish Massage
Swedish massage is a perfect way to relieve stress and muscle tension and reset any postural problems that have developed from repetitive motions or overuse of specific muscles.
Full Body Massage
A full-body massage offers both physical and mental benefits that enhance overall beauty and well-being. Here's how it contributes to beauty:
A full-body massage increases blood flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients to the skin, which can result in a more radiant complexion.
The massage motions gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead cells and promoting a smoother, softer texture.
Massage stimulates the lymphatic system, helping the body eliminate toxins and reduce puffiness or water retention, leading to a more refreshed and vibrant appearance.
By releasing tight muscles throughout the body, a full-body massage improves posture, leading to a more confident and graceful appearance.
Loosening stiff joints and muscles also enhances flexibility and mobility, contributing to a more fluid, graceful movement.
Massage reduces stress and anxiety, promoting relaxation and mental clarity. A calm, relaxed state of mind enhances inner beauty, leading to more radiant, youthful energy.
Lower stress levels can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as stress is a major contributor to premature aging.
Massage promotes deeper, more restful sleep, which is essential for skin regeneration, reducing dark circles, and maintaining a healthy, youthful appearance.
Regular massage can help balance stress hormones like cortisol, which, when in excess, can lead to breakouts, dry skin, and other issues affecting physical beauty.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is a time-tested and invigorating treatment for stress and tension.
If you’re looking for a soothing, energising massage treatment, allow these experienced, talented therapists to introduce you to the world of Indian head massage.
Hot Stone Massage
This indulgent massage uses gently warmed basalt stones to allow your therapist to work deeper into the areas of concern.
Clients can expect relief from muscle tension and pain, improved circulation, reduced levels of stress and anxiety alongside an overall sense of well-being.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
The accumulation of lymph can cause swelling, congestion and pain.
This is a very nice gentle treatment, that focuses on lymph nodes (neck, armpits, groin) and therapeutic technique aimed at promoting the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissue and back into the bloodstream. The massage helps in flushing toxins, waste and excess fluid out of the body, aids post-surgery recovery, especially recommended for people who have had lymphnodes removed or are dealing with lymphedema.
It can help with deep relaxation and stress relief due to slow and gentle movement.
Here are the main BENEFITS:
Reduces swelling and water retention
Improves skin conditions (especially cellulite)
Boosts immune function
Helps manage conditions like lymphedema, fibromyalgia or sinus infection.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Acute Infection: In cases of fever, inflammation, or active infections, lymphatic drainage massage can spread the infection.
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF): People with heart conditions may struggle with the increased fluid load that can result from the massage.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): Massage can dislodge a blood clot, leading to serious complications like a pulmonary embolism.
Active Cancer: Lymphatic drainage massage could potentially spread cancer cells through the lymphatic system.
Kidney Failure: The body may not be able to handle the increased amount of fluid that would need to be processed by the kidneys.
Uncontrolled Hypertension: The massage may increase blood flow, which could exacerbate high blood pressure.
Recent Surgery: Lymphatic drainage should be avoided until wounds have healed properly, as it could interfere with recovery or spread infections.
RELATIVE CONTRAINDICATIONS when massage may be done with caution or under medical supervision:
Asthma: The increased circulation can sometimes trigger an asthma attack.
Thyroid Problems: In cases of hyperthyroidism, stimulating the neck area (where major lymph nodes are located) might cause an overreaction.
Pregnancy.
If you suffer from headaches or endless congestion consider treating your symptoms with a lymphatic drainage massage :)
