These guys are brilliant. Very good service, quick, timely, careful and clean. They do all the little things you don't think about and left my garden clean and tidy after a long hard day's work. What a lovely family business. They came in confidently assessed the job today obviously new exactly what they were doing and out in less than an hour. I had a very tight working area for my stump removal the tree had grown around a metal trellis and was bordered very closely an 2 sides by fencing. The went over and above also getting rid of some extra roots which I was having trouble removing and advised me there was a large concrete obstruction in the ground near the stump. They did s very good job however when we agreed they said they they would chop it to the ground but never did. They left a foot above the ground and left some small stumps as well. I shall now have to call someone else to finish off the job unless they are willing to come back. More...

S&S were speedy in their responses to my queries and reliable in their service. Sam and his team completed the work (removal of three stumps) very quickly and left things tidy.

Sam jr & Sam snr very polite, very informative on the phone, no real pressure on the sales pitch as Sam tried to secure the job. Site visit arranged for the following day, conifer inspected and very fair price agreed. Conifer gone, rubbish gone, site left tidy. All in under an hour, very happy. Recently commissioned some gardening services from S and S Tree and Gardening services Ltd alias Ashwood Tree and Garden services . I was approached by S&S tree and garden services who started the job having done a site visit

I was subject to significant shouting and abuse, harassment and intimidation by the contractors in question from the onset of the job and throughout the day. They had poor customer service skills , no sense of professionalism or standards, agreed the price for a job , changed the scope of the job ( which I had no choice but to concede to )specification but still requiring full payment, did not finish the work, did not have the correct tools and when I refused to pay until the job was completed, threatened to fly tip in my compound , took a picture of me and made threats . The whole incident has been reported to the police for investigation as well as Trading Standards.
After the incident I went back to look at the reviews for S&S tree and garden services as I had seen some positive reviews which made me select them for the job, to my utter shock, the profile page sent to me by Bark for this company( S&S ) was for another company called Ashwood tree and garden services. I did not notice this until after the horrific encounter and abuse I was subjected to . S& S appear to trade under multiple trading names. Bark are fully aware of the issues and have been provided with the relevant documentation and pictures

Due to the tactics used by these contractors I finally paid them despite all the work being unfinished and my fence being destroyed .
Unfortunately there is no zero star because even the one star is in exaggeration More...

I hired S &S garden very recently to view and cut some trees in my property. The quote given was not competitive so I declined the quote and decided to go with another quote I had received. S& S building then approached me and said they would match the quote I was given so after some consideration and because they could start on time I decided to go ahead with them. Unfortunately that was the worst decision I could have made. Despite a site visit being undertaken prior to the commencement of the job ,the scope of the work kept on changing, from asking for more money (saying that they were doing the job for nothing and it was not worth the amount that was being paid ) despite agreeing to the payment in the first place, the changing scope ranged from proposing to cutting just half of the trees rather than down to stump as had been agreed but still expecting full payment , refusing to cut a tree saying that it was too complicated , destroying a fence and when I complained I was told the fence is old anyway, I was subject to shouting and abuse , was told the equipment had broken down and the job could not be completed and it was my fault for the equipment breaking down, been told that they were close to losing their cool with me because I was insisting they kept to their part of the bargain and the job specification that had been agreed. I was being shouted at so loudly in the garden that two of my neighbors to the right side of me were concerned on my behalf . When I told them that they had to complete the job before payment would be made in full I faced more aggression. Given the reason for non completion was that the money was not worth it and equipment had broken down I suggested perhaps they came back the next day to complete the job what I would give them half the money for now that was declined. They then decided to call the police to report I refused to pay for a job they had done which was untrue . I was very keen for the police to turn up so they could see the job specification that had been agreed and what infact this company had done instead. I called back to report this company and my experience and whilst I was speaking to the customer service team at bark , the aggressive behaviour and tone continued from the contractor which was good as the lady in bark could hear the conversation. They threatened to put my picture on Facebook as a customer who refuse to pay for a service ironically this was far from the truth. In conclusion the police refused to attend saying it was a civil matter, I paid them the original price ( we agreed this would not include the extra £40 pounds I had offered them that morning.
