How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Main checking points are to look if foundations are adequate. Is it a cavity or single skin wall. Roof joist/rafters amd spans. Floor build up for insulation amd levels
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Check foundations for depth and width, underpins maybe required. Floor slab will be inadequate amd require removal. A new insulated slab will ne required. Check and install damp course correctly. Roof joists will need increasing for both strength and loadings. New flat warm roof will be needed. Blocking up existing garage door to form a window is standard, again, compliance to building regulations is a must. New electrics and plumbing will be required. Potential waste pipes to be connected to foul sewer for showers/toilets. Walls and ceiling to be boarded and skimmed. Floor screeding amd finishes. Decoration and fit out. Sign off with building control.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Normally the key area is existing ridge height. Dormers and mansards can built in most lofts as long as you have the headroom. Services are also food for thought if you need power or waste from bathrooms.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Stripping existing roof off, structural works first wether thats steels or posi joists. A good scaffold for access. Cut new roof, dormers etc, insert velux/skylights. First fix electrics and plumbing, insulation, plasterboard and plaster. Fit bathroom suite, tiling. Knock through new staircase. Decorate and make good

What guarantee does your work come with?
We dont offer guarantees on general building works but will do on certain roofs. New build houses we offer 10 year insurance backed guarantees. We are fully insured for public and employers liability.
What do you love most about your job?
Everyday is a new day and a different day, whilst the job might be similar its for a new client. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge from the last 26 years to help my clients choose the correct materials at the correct prices and goving them a steer in the right direction.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My mentor when i was 22 years was an eldeely irish roofing carpenter named Frank Conboy, he used to say to me “Marcus, I’ve forgotten more than youll ever know”…..he taught me all i know and particularly the old school methods…he was my drive to be successful and sadly hes now passed but im sure id give him a run for his money today ❤️
Why should our clients choose you?
We pride ourselves on communication and by that i mean answering the phone, responding to messages, walking hand in hand with clients through the pressure of their projects no matter how small. Some clients love to get involved others like a back seat approach but i need to make sure at the end of the day both parties have clarity in all that we do.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We follow all CDM regulations, first aid trained, we have in house health and safety auditors and all the staff are well verses in emergency procedures. I will always discuss with my clients any health issues that we may need to be aware of. Dust sheets, floor protection, PPE, hand sanitizers, rubbish disposal….just a few things we take very serious

We also have excellent knowledge and contacts in the planning and development stages using our own architectural and engineering consultants
