What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Taking time, both to compose the shot but also to talk to or understand the subject.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Before any shoot I spend time with my clients, online or in person, to really understand what they are looking for to make sure we are the right fit for one another. Photography is a collaborative process. My first question would typically be "what is it you're hoping to get from hiring a photographer?"
What do you love most about your job?
I like meeting new people. It is my way of learning more about the world.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After 30 years working in television as an operator, a designer and then in leadership roles I wanted to return to the simpicity of making things. I love visual arts and photography is the way that I find it most energising to create.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am customer focussed. This job isn't about just rocking up with a camera. A good outcome, for both commercial and portrait work, comes through planning as well as being attentive to a customer after a shoot.
Photography is quite personal. Clients should always check a photograper's previous work to get a sense of the style they are likely to create. I would hope that clients that choose me do so because they like my work, but also that they feel that can get on with me for the duration of the shoot.

Portrait and commercial photography requires being physically in a space or with a person. However i typically carry out all my meetings and planning online.
