I’ve been being coached by one of the trainers here at SHF for just under 11months now and must say SHF is one of the most friendly and most welcoming gyms I’ve ever trained at. Credit to James and his team for creating an atmosphere where no matter what your training level everyone is happy to help and provide guidance. Ino gyms can be a daunting place for new starters and even long time lifers but I would highly recommend SHF for anyone wanting to get into Heath and fitness! SHF is an amazing, local, well equipped and genuinely a fantastic gym community to be a part of. The owner James and all of his team of personal trainers being Dan, Sarah, Lee etc are all so friendly and helpful. Fantastic, welcoming and well equipped gym. I have been to a few different gyms over the years but this has to be my favourite by far. I felt welcomed from the moment I enquired about joining up. James, the owner took his time to reply to my various messages giving me clear answers, he made sure he came to speak to me personally on my first visit to introduce himself and to make sure I had everything I needed, I could not have had a better introduction. The PTs I have interacted with have all been great, as have the other members. It really feels like a great place to come and workout rather than just a corporate gym out for your money. As mentioned the gym is well equipped and has everything I need. The kit is constantly being invested in, there is even a brand new infrared sauna available. There are various community and member focused things always going on like member of the month and charity donations to win PT sessions etc. I could not recommend the place higher. This gym is more than just a gym. I have been a gym goer for 30 years and this is by far the best one I have been a part of. The team are caring and friendly and happy to help with anything you need. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend James. He's been coaching me for 11 weeks, with 2 PT sessions per week and an evolving nutrition plan, and the benefits to my physical and mental health were noticeable within a week. My lower back pain when sleeping has almost gone, and I feel stronger and fitter getting on with everyday things. My primary goal was to build strength and with James's training I'm over the moon with the numbers; never thought I'd be able to say I can leg press 177kg/27.8 stone! I’ve been working with James for just over a month now. Hiring a PT was a bit intimidating for me, but he has been super friendly and really accessible whenever I have questions.
My diet and workout plans have been tailored to me, and I’ve been able to fit them into my routine without too much difficulty. I’ve been enjoying our 1:1 PT sessions - James will definitely push you to work hard!

Signing up with James has been the best thing I've done! Having not done any strength training exercise for well over a year due to a shoulder injury, James listened to my concerns and came up with a realistic 6 week plan to help get my shoulder mobilised. Following James's plan along with physio has enabled me just about to fully mobilise my shoulder where motion was extremely restricted. James is really focused on helping me achieve my goals and as a result I am now lifting progressively heavier weights. James is the best PT Trainer I’ve met in my life and I’m 54. I’ve met a few in my many years on this planet, many of them charge crazy fees for little help in return, they treat you like conveyer belt produce, thinking only about the monetary value of the next client. ... James isn’t like that. He’s friendly, and knowledgable ..He genuinely cares about helping people get the best out of themselves within their own fitness pursuits and goals. In my opinion he views his career as second to the pride he gets from rebuilding his clients into a physically better version of themselves. It is essential, its a big piece of the jigsaw. Its helps the individual function at a high level, train with the required intensity and ultimately be the best version of themselves.
How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
Ensuring their goals are realistic, work with them to establish a realistic timeframe in order to reach them. When agreed i talk about all aspects of their lifestyle in order to plan out their roadmap to success.
Helping them stay focused on their ingoing successes, inside and outside of the gym.

to add to it, i feel i have a lot of experience and knowledge from a decade and a half of training and reading/researching. Trying to find that “perfect” formula for success, when in fact, you can follow youtube or instagram ‘experts’ but the answer and formula lies inside, and helping people find it and seeing them succeed on their own enpowered steam is the second best feeling.

Having been in gym environments for over a decade and a half, ive acrewed an amount of knowledge that would allow me to work with anyone of any fitness and self motivation level and help them progress. I hold myself to high standards and believe alot in accountability, it has lead me to where i am today. I practice what i preach.
