Finally resolved Things can go wrong any time in a business but you have to keep up communication with your client and resolve problems quickly. Jason apologised for letting us down and has finally exchanged a number of decking panels. We are satisfied now. We suggest he joins the Timber Decking Accreditation Scheme to have his business assessed and become part of the DeckMark scheme. For clients it may be helpful too, as there is help with dispute resolution which should be part of the company’s terms and conditions. We have learnt our lessons and in future will only work with companies which are quality assessed by DeckMark. We wish him well for the future. Disappointed a year on Unfortunately I need to update my positive review. A year on, the decking was creaking due to the wrong screws used. The wood looks as not being of good quality and white stuff was coming out together with tree raisin. Sticky stuff! Jason promised to repair and acknowledged that the quality of the decking was not what we could expect. We agreed on a time plan. The first part, changing all the screws, was quickly dealt with. The sanding down and oiling is still outstanding. We understand, that due to the weather, he was unable to do this.However, communication stalled and we have no idea when he is planning to make good of all the problems. Meanwhile even more decking panels are cracking, not even 18 months old. It is bad enough to have paid so much money for bad quality in the first place. We have been patient and understanding for so long and to cut us off completely is very disappointing. A year earlier Jason and his excellent team can be highly recommended for the quality work they are providing. They are incredible detailed and professional and explain every step to help you make the right decisions in the first place. The team worked hard despite freezing temperatures and were on time and very polite and tidy. You are included in the process whenever a decision has to be made. The whole process is streamlined and timed from the arrival of the material to the delivery of the skip. Prices are very fair and value for money and you are reimbursed for material not needed. You can also keep the wood not used for your own projects. The end product looks incredible and is covered by a 2 year warranty for the work and 25 years for the material. We can highly recommend this company and suggest that you book Oilcanfinish well ahead of your protected work, as they are very popular. More...

Jason, Vic and the team installed Jackson Fencing along two of our boundaries and levelled the back area of the yard in preparation for an outdoor room. The job required 3+ skips of soil to be removed as well as a huge hedge and pond. The team are efficient, tidy and Vic’s attention to detail is second to none. Cannot recommend Jason and Oilcanfinish enough. He was courteous, hard working and really knew his stuff. He is also an absolute perfectionist, ensuring we got a brilliant finish even if it took him longer (most contractors would just cut corners). Jason did an amazing job on our fence is very efficient. I can already tell the job is going to last long. Did such a good job, my next door neighbours fence toppled over a few days so it would have been silly to not pass his details on.

He initiated a call to arrange a visit which he promptly came round on the same day. I showed him what the issue was (fence post needed replanting along with some minor repairs of our garden gate) and he stated this was going to be relatively straightforward to which I asked him for a quote and his availability. He said he would get back to me which he did with a qood quote and date when he would come round. That was the end of it, he kept rescheduling to which I was initially understanding of the reasons given. the last day we mutually arranged, he never came round nor did he confirm in advance why he couldn't make it (not heard from since). It would have been better if he had made it known whether he could commit to the dates he suggested or been upfront and said that he was unable to continue. We hired Jason to rip out rotten wood fencing and install a new fence. I was very particular about it being sturdy and secure to keep my dog safe in side our garden. We're very happy with the end result; looks like it will last a couple of years.
