We’ve had a really great experience with Natural Balance Dog Training so far. Dave and Carolynne have been an excellent support for us. They are understanding, kind people who have supported us in a way that worked for our dog. Our main issues were prey drive inside and outside the house and so having Dave and Carolynne come to the house was incredibly helpful, especially because our cats were a big part of the problem. The progress has been amazing already and it’s given me so much more confidence in how I work with our dog day to day. Jake has been an incredible help in training our dog, Ollie. What really stood out was how he adapted his techniques specifically to suit Ollie, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. He also took the time to clearly explain every step of the process, which made a big difference for my partner Craig, who was initially unsure about whether we needed a trainer at all. Had my first session today was meant to just be a video call but the lovely team decided that a face to face would be more beneficial and I couldn’t have been happier with the knowledge and outcome of our very first session, my dog already feels more engaged and understanding of what it is I want from him, I’d recommend this company for anyone with problems that have already started that need to be fixed or problems that you don’t want to start and they will guide you on how to avoid these problems from starting from day one with your puppy/older dog

Highly recommend working with Hector from Natural Balance Dog Training! At first I suspected he may be some kind of magician because of how quickly I saw a change in the behaviour of my 2 pups, but it turns out he is just very knowledgeable and experienced in dog behaviour. Hector was great at explaining what I needed to do with the dogs to improve their behaviour and help them to be more relaxed meeting people and other dogs. Each dog has its own nature and then belong to one of a range of working types. Well I thought that a lifetime of dog care and training would be enough until my first idiosyncratic bull baiter caused chaos and stress. Jake is really knowledgeable about all issues we’ve came across(eg not eating,jumping, not settling, pulling,,no recall, barking etc) with our dogs and solving them and great at communicating, 100% would recommend, our dogs can now be safely off leash and recalled with tools, behaviour all round is getting so much better thanks to him and us continuing the training,I’m looking forward to going on a pack walk with others dogs and owners ☺️

My dog is completely different in his behaviour than when we started. He is listening and obeying my commands well. He used to pretty much do whatever he wanted and had selective hearing when there was any kind of distraction while off lead. Now he listens to me and I have control over him. I feel calm and confident while we are out together. He is also walking at heal now (managed this in the first half hour of training). Before he used to be in front of me and basically walking me around. Now it’s the other way round, as it should be. I’d recommend Dave and Carolynne to anyone with a large dog that needs some training. Hi we’ve just had our 2nd training with Dave and Carolynne and Bertie making such a difference in him ! He’s been attack three times and became very reactive but never knew when he was gonna react to other dogs and it was getting worse and worse but with Dave and Carolynne help it’s been brilliant. I am most impressed with Carolynne and Dave who are giving me guidance on household rules teaching my 7 month old Labrador Ebony to stop jumping up at tables and kitchen counters. I have learnt the importance of being the pack leader to gain my dog’s respect using body language and less human talk. I used to talk to her all day! We are working on stopping jumping up at people, methods for heel work and recall. Carolynne and Dave are always available to give guidance and support. We’ve had three dog trainers and one behaviourist over the years, and none of them were able to help our three incredibly yappy dachshunds. Then we came across these miracle workers — and they fixed our dogs in just ONE session. Yes, one session! They went above and beyond our expectations: They showed us exactly what to do to manage the barking, and it worked. Carolynne has been helping me with my puppy who had started resources guarding. I was at a complete loss when I contacted Natural Balance and was worried due my puppy’s escalating behaviour that I may even need to rehome him. Carolynne showed me how to take control of the situation, how to get items off my puppy safely and how to stop him from growling and biting. It’s early days but he is really making progress. I feel totally in control now and can manage situations when he shows unwanted behaviours. My only regret is not contacting Natural Balance sooner. We contacted Hector for a free telephone consultation after our young French Bulldog suddenly began showing reactivity during walks. Following our initial conversation, we arranged an in-person session, and we’re so glad we did. Hector was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain not just what to do, but why each step was important, which really helped everything make sense. He equipped us with practical tools we could use both at home and out on walks, and we noticed a difference immediately after the very first visit. I have a very lovely energetic miniature schnauzer puppy 13 weeks old. My Bichon/Shih Tzu cross, Bryn, was so nervous outdoors that I had stopped venturing from the gate for a lead walk. Although, he would happily run around a field socialising with other dogs, the outdoor street sounds, traffic, push bikes and people approaching would cause him to panic. Barking at people approaching on foot was a big problem. After working with Dave & Carolynne for a short time he is a different dog. The transformation is quite amazing and seems almost instant. Bryn, now walks quietly at my side and, provided a person doesn't approach him directly, he'll pass with no reaction. He is not cowering from the sound of cars or bikes passing, but is not yet ready for the busier roads. So, we still have a little way to go, but the ground work is well and truly established, giving us both something to build on over time. Being able to take Bryn for a walk, without first taking him somewhere quiet by car, is the kickstart needed to build his confidence. Jake has helped us with our Cocker Spaniel massively and the results after our first session have exceeded our expectations. We can now walk him without being pulled along and he's much calmer in the house and with visitors. Jake also checks in with us to see how the training is going and to offer advice. I can’t recommend Dave and Carolyn enough I had just become the proud owner of a little rescue dog called Lilly absolutely fine in the house but a absolute nightmare out on walks to the extent I was to nervous to go out contacted Dave and Carolyn’s and got a appointment quickly Dave turned up on time and worked with me introducing his Rottweiler and taught me how to handle this situation he was marvellous Caroline was taking photos the whole time they quickly gave the confidence to go out and about and not get worried also had loads of tip and ideas how to manage other situations it was absolutely amazing, the same day received a folder to keep and had several texts asking how it was all going and giving me support. We had a fantastic experience with Hector, after approaching Natural Balance Dog Training for support with two highly strung retrievers. One is a desperately anxious rescue, the other is a manic working line retriever with reactivity issues - combined, they are certainly more than a handful! Hector spent the afternoon with us, talking through our worries, assessing the dogs, and running through practical exercises to address their behaviour. He took the time to explain why the dogs were behaving the way that they were, and what we were doing, as pack leaders, to reinforce the unwanted behaviour. Having read many books and spent countless hours browsing the internet in search of guidance, Hector made it 'click' for us in a way nothing else had before. By the end of the session, we could see a marked improvement in both dogs. With continued commitment to our long term behaviour modification plan, I've no doubt we're on track to achieving a calmer, happier household. Superb. We were having issues with our 7 year old Labrador being too vocal. Jake came round and within minutes had him making improvements! Gave us some great tips and advice on his care and how to overcome the challenges we have been having. Two weeks on and he’s improved no end! The barking has almost totally stopped. After an 'incident', we decided we had to sort our 2 Yorkshire Terrorists out. Research led us to Natural Balance. We liked that their approach was to view training on the basis of how dogs learn 'in the wild'. After only a week, we could already see a difference, and now, a few weeks into the program, going for walks is a very different experience. We are not there yet, but we no longer feel we need to avoid other people and dogs. And our boys are calmer too and loving being told they are doing right, rather than wrong. I own a little dachshund named Reggie, before we began training him he was extremely reactive towards other dogs, nervous around new people and he had severe separation anxiety from me. Within 2 weeks of training he has started to learn that not every dog is a threat and he has started to relax a little more when out for walks. He is now crate trained which if you told me would’ve been possible a month ago I would’ve laughed and sooner believed that a pig flew past my window. Our six-year-old cocker was always on a lead. We’d tried various training routes, but always away from home, and his outrageous personality made us unwilling to let him off the lead when walking. I can’t recommend Natural Balance Dog Training enough! My partner and I spent a lot of time considering which dog trainer would be best to go to for our at the time 11 month old Doberman. We decided to enquire the availability for Natural Balance Dog Training as the values of the trainers and training program really aligned with us for what we wanted to achieve with our pup. We reached out as our handsome cane corso Wilson was very nervous and scared of his own shadow. He was barking at everyone and everything. Would highly recommend Natural Balance for dog training. Hector visited us to give us advice on training our staffy Sailor.
