Maisilly have cared for our two Weimaraners for several months now. Our youngest is a very nervous dog who was extremely traumatised after running away from her previous dog walker and not being found for 5 days. We were incredibly anxious about engaging somebody else to walk our dogs but Tony and Sally were wonderful, showing great empathy, patience and kindness to both our dogs and us! Maisilly walked my dog Beau on a daily basis for a number of years, until I moved away from the area, and I've never been more confident that he was in good hands. Beau was a sociable dog and enjoyed the company of others on his walk. Excellent service at a reasonable rate for my 2 standard poodles and bassett hound who are not the most obedient. They soon got to love Tony and James and were always waiting at the window when they came. I needed their service following an operation and they were kind enough to provide Saturday and Sunday cover although they do not normally work weekends. What do you love most about your job?
We get to spend our days with “clients” who are always wildly excited to see us, happy to be in our company and who are not ashamed to show it. We get to share their pleasure on a daily basis. We humans can learn a lot from our canine friends!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I worked in the travel industry for over 20 years and had a comfortable middle management job. I have always had dogs in my life and had a real desire to combine my passion for dogs and my work. I reached an age when if I didn't do it then I probably never would. So I did; with support from my partner Tony and it was the best thing I ever did.
Why should our clients choose you?
Since 2013 we have completed nearly 55,000 dog walks with 211 different dogs (from a 3 Kg Chalkie to a 65 Kg Newfoundland) providing our services to 145 satisfied clients. We believe this experience has contributed to the reputation we have established and which we value so highly. We are more than happy to make arrangements for potential clients to speak with some of our existing clients.
As the business has grown my partner (Tony) has joined me full time and in early 2018 Andy also joined the team. Having three vehicles on the road gives us flexibility and cover to ensure we can provide a reliable service.
We are fully insured and CRB checked. All our vehicles are fully air conditioned and caged for safety and comfort. At the end of the day it is all about the dogs.
Dog walking
We walk most of our dogs over Happy Valley and Farthing Down. It provides a wonderful mix of open down land and ancient woodland trails. Most importantly it is safe, well way from roads and traffic. Apart from socialisation within our pack it is a popular dog walking location to meet and socialise with other dogs yet large enough to be alone for the less sociable dogs. Our walks are always for one hour and matched to the needs of the dog. Travelling, collection and drop off time is additional to the hours walk.
Home Visits
We can do 15, 30 or 60 minute home visits to provide care for your pet. These visits are generally for older dogs who have walking restrictions or puppies for whom an hours walk is too much. Our visits will include local walking if appropriate, toilet, feeding, play and lovin'
Puppy programme
A gradual programme of home visits, play, short local walks and basic training building up to them joining us on our regular hour walks. In the early months a puppies bones are soft and it is easy for them to overdo things. We look to prepare them to be socialised and off lead at the end of the programme.
