Sarah Coxy Allison
I recently attended Dans clinic and cannot thank Dan enough for the way he has helped me to overcome my fears and change my perspective on life. Several life changing events happened at once and I was feeling overwhelmed and unable to think clearly but also obsessing about the future. I had a few sessions with Dan and now feel like a new woman! I would recommend Dan to help whatever your problem! He is a truly kind, empathetic man and I am so pleased I chose to go to him to sort out my very messy head! Thank you Dan! More...

Hypnotherapy
We can think of the mind as having three levels, the conscious level - where you are, reading this, the subconscious level - where all the information you need to access is (passwords, date of birth, memories), and the unconscious level, where all experiences are rated, interpreted and mechanisms developed which become the way you function.
The unconscious mind is like the control centre, and everything has its root there, from the perception of who you are and your level of self-esteem, to habits, fears, phobias, anxiety and depression responses, to name but a few.
Unlike talking therapy, hypnotherapy works at the unconscious level, effecting change at the root of the problem, in that deepest part of your mind you have no day-to-day access to, unless you're dreaming.
In years gone by it was primarily associated with smoking and weight-loss, however, it is a superbly effective therapy for anxiety, stress, PTSD, addictions and more besides.
It is not about mind-control. You will most likely be aware the whole time, and everyone can do it. You enter into altered states every day. So, for example, if you drive a regular route, you may have experienced getting to a certain point and realise you have no recollection of how you got there. You were clearly aware the whole time, but have entered a slightly different state. We might call it 'zoned out'. That's very similar to hypnosis. It's natural, safe, and now has a huge weight of neurological scientific recognition. Indeed, the U.K's NHS website has a section on hypnotherapy and its usefulness in treating various conditions and habits.
The particular value of hypnotherapy is that people tend to experience change more rapidly than with talking therapies.
I offer complimentary consultations, so if you'd like to find out more about how hypnotherapy can help you, just get in touch and we can arrange to talk.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming
As the term suggests, NLP works with our understanding of neurology (how the brain is wired), and certain language patterns (as well as visualisation), to achieve changes of state.
I use NLP alongside hypnotherapy as the two compliment each other perfectly in delivering rapid, effective change.
NLP techniques are entirely conscious, and can be used to control pain, change mood state, alter the effects of trauma, set effective goals, create aversion to particular things, eliminate phobias and more besides.
Psychotherapy techniques
The psychotherapy techniques I use help clients to achieve resolution for events which have had impacts which they may be consciously aware of, or have even dismissed as unimportant.
Freud compared the mind to a bucket, which fills with our experiences. Those negative experiences which lack effective resolution, tend to get forced down, ignored and dismissed as we 'just get over it' or 'move-on'. They can then build up and overflow, manifesting as issues like anxiety and depression. The resolution techniques I use have the effect of clearing out the bucket and restoring inner peace, balance and perspective.
