I recently completed 22 years in the British Army, during my resettlement I retrained as a Tree Surgeon, I have also learnt how to lay hedges in the Devon style and will turn my hand to most garden maintenance tasks.

James from Langore Tree Services visited in person beforehand to identify and discuss my trees and provide advice on tree management. Importantly, I did not feel under pressure, and was delighted that James said that he liked to work ‘with the trees’ (I have a small woodland garden). James provided advice on Health & Safety for the Public as some of the trees are located on a bank near a public footpath and highway and he and advised how to manage different tree species e.g., which ones to reduce to ground level, which ones to pollard and which to leave. I also wanted an old, unsightly conifer removed as well as a young sycamore that was too near the front of the house, all done expertly. James took responsibility for the admin (application for the traffic management system/ traffic lights) and paperwork for the Council. On the days that James was here, he and his knowledgeable and friendly team worked together efficiently, safely and considerately. I am now reassured that James has assisted me to meet my obligations as a responsible tree owner and that I have a clear plan of how to manage my small woodland garden going forwards. If you are looking for someone to deal with trees and hedges at your property, then I can highly recommend using Langore Tree Services. They recently removed some trees that were in a particular difficult location between my property and that of my neighbour. Despite the really poor weather conditions at the time, this did not deter them from doing an excellent job and clearing away all the mess to leave my garden neat and tidy. What do you love most about your job?
I was bought up on a Duchy of Cornwall farm in East Cornwall, I love working outdoors. I love to meet customers and discuss their requirements, i feel extremely privileged to work on customers properties and help to maintain the beautiful landscape that we are so lucky to live and work in.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After 22 years in the Regular Army, I knew I had the motivation, determination and drive to succeed in running my own business. I have been in business now 5 years and we are constantly looking at ways to improve our work processes and grow the business.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
At all times we are mindful of the current government guidelines regarding Covid-19 and adhere to them at all times.
Traditional Devon Hedgelaying
Trained to lay hedges in a Devon style, Hedgelaying is normally completed when trees are dormant from September to March
Tree Management
Tree Removal, and Felling, Deadwood Management.
Formative Pruning and Pollarding
Tree pruning can be done to regulate size and shape or improve the quality of flowers, fruit or timber
Crown Thinning, Reduction and Lifting
Crown work may be necessary to maintain a tree in a safe condition, to remove dead branches or to promote growth.
Hedgetrimming
Formative pruning is usually carried out in early spring, after this, maintenance trimming is carried out, usually once a year for informal hedges.
Wood Chipping and Garden Clearance
Timberwolf 125 is used to recycle and reuse the organic material produced from tree work but can also be used for garden clearance.
Grass Cutting and General Garden Maintenance
Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly Garden maintenance

Felled Timber can be transformed and repurposed into a useable building material
