Q&As

My work indirectly has a positive impact on employees happiness. I enjoy answering employers payroll questions to support them in getting their employees pay right, and getting over any tax and pension concerns.

Previously being an accountant, I was fed up with seeing complicated payslips which didn't allow employers or employees to easily understand whether they had been paid and taxed correctly. I knew what I wanted from a payslip, and I wanted to give that to everyone else. So I closed my accountancy practice, and since 2012 offered solely payroll. Originally just in Kent, but as remote working became easier, I extended my payroll services nationwide.

I am committed to providing a bespoke payroll service. No two employers are the same, and neither are any two employees. That's why I only provide payroll for small to medium business with 1-25 employees, because I want to understand every business needs individually, and make a difference to each and every employee. Coming from an accountancy background I have that extra knowledge that smaller businesses need to help them be tax efficient in their payroll. My Clients accountants like me because I know what they need, which helps to keep Clients accountancy fees down!

I have worked 100% remotely in the Kent countryside since 2012. I meet very few of my clients face-to-face these days, but we still easily build a rapport over email or on the phone.

Having worked remotely since 2012, Covid-19 had minimal impact on the payroll service I provided to my clients. Already used to working remotely, I was able to work random, variable hours to test software changes as HMRC released them, and to ensure my clients payslips remained compliant, and employers reclaimed what they were entitled to.

Services

I process all aspects of your payroll to provide your employees with an easy to understand, detailed, compliant payslip every month, and a P60 at the end of the year. I make your monthly and annual submissions to HMRC and your Pension provider.

I predominantly use Sage Payroll for processing payslips because it is an HMRC recognised solution that easily tackles different types of pensions, parental leave, sickness, benefits-in-kind, etc. It is easily scalable as your employee numbers increase, and if you grow to a point where you want to take your payroll in-house it is favoured by many bookkeepers.

Most other payroll softwares are easily importable into (and out of) Sage Payroll, so your historical data is not lost.

I cover all elements of pension processing, including assessing your employees, enrolment, postponement, pension letters to employees, uploading your pension schedule and your 3-yearly re-enrolment and re-declaration to The Pension Regulator.

I will prepare and submit your annual P11D(b) if required by HMRC.

A P11D(b) is a Form that calculates employer Class 1A National Insurance Contributions due on certain benefits given by employers to employees that are considered taxable by HMRC, (e.g. company cars or vans, private healthcare, season ticket loans). If required, it must be submitted each year to HMRC.
