I have been a professional working performer for 15 years which has taken me all over the world. I started 'KJ's Kids' in 2013 and have taught countless students (children and adults during that time.) I love using the skills and experiences I've gained and placing that knowledge into my teaching.

Katie has been teaching my six-year-old daughter singing since UK lockdown 1.0 (March 2020). We picked singing lessons as we needed to find an activity that we could do remotely, and singing gave us the flexibility as well as it works perfectly over Zoom.
It is the only lesson my daughter looks forward to doing in her schedule of other weekly extra-curricular activities. My daughter’s singing confidence and ability to sing (not just shout!) has improved so much since her time with Katie. Katie has hand-picked songs for her to sing and rotates them every few weeks – which she finds both fun and also challenging!
Katie has also tutored her through a few LAMDA exams which she has attained Distinctions for thanks to Kate's very talented way of coaching her through the process.
I actually think my (then) tone-deaf little girl, may actually fulfill her dreams in becoming a singer!

What do you love most about your job?
Seeing confidence grow in students. I love watching students be proud of themselves and seeing their skills develop overtime. I've helped students through exams, school performances and even adult theatre productions. Seeing students progress is incredibly rewarding.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started teaching at the age of 17 and just fell in love with the joy of it. I worked for numerous schools and then when one day I was asked if I taught privately, I then thought why not. The business grew very quickly and It's continued to strive when we were all locked down.
Why should our clients choose you?
I believe having continued experience of working in the industry doesn't give me the label of 'just a teacher.' I love to cover all aspects of auditioning prep, songwriting and all sorts of genres.

I used to visit clients in their houses but while I do other performance work and other work remotely I have to keep to my teaching online.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I moved my business online in the pandemic and due to other work progressing and moving away from my clients I kept my business online and it's been fantastic seeing it thrive even this way.

I specialise in guiding children for auditions. I have prepped children for WestEnd auditions. I do not however prep young adults for Drama school auditions. I recommend finding another coach for that.
