Wedding Photography

What a delight it was having Julie as our photographer on our big day! Julie was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. On the day she put me at ease straight away she is so warm and friendly. There were many moments at the wedding when she just blended in with our family and friends (who all raved about her). With her stealth-like style we couldn't believe how she seemingly managed to be everywhere, at all times, covering all angles and getting the most fantastic pictures. Such incredible pictures, we were blown away with the results. They will bring back such fabulous memories of a wonderful day forever. We couldn't have asked for a better photographer and I would recommend her to everyone. Thank you Julie x More...

Before getting in touch with Julie, my fiance and I had been in touch with a couple of other photographers who were trying to sell us packages with lots of superfluous extras that we neither wanted or needed. We were clear in what we wanted from our photographer, someone calm, straightforward, who would not be in our faces and who could do some great indie style shots as well. I'd met Julie a few months previously while I was DJing at a wedding and remembered that she was very calm and a really chilled, fun person so I checked out her website and loved her style. I dropped her a message to see if she would quote for our wedding on 29th December 2018. After our meeting, we knew Julie was the right person to photograph our wedding and both came away feeling confident and content that one of the most important parts of our big day was in very safe hands. Not only is she very patient, she's a very organised and incredibly warm person. She even sent us a voucher to enjoy a meal together, which is something I had never heard from a supplier before! Julie replied to our emails almost immediately or at least within a couple of hours maximum (anyone planning a wedding will know how frustrating it is to have to wait for days to get a reply from a supplier) and didn't once rush or pressure us for answers during the planning stages. On the day itself, Julie was a calm presence during the madness of getting ready and even though she was 7 months pregnant, she was energetic on the day and didn't once slow up to the point that I was worried that she was ok! Neither my husband or I are particular 'posey' people, Carl less so than me and he was worried on the day he'd feel a bit awkward but at no stage did either of us feel that way and that was down to the unobtrusive and fun way Julie managed the shoot. Julie got back to us with a taster of our photos within a week - and sent us our full gallery 2 weeks after the wedding. So quick! The photos are so stunning and are categorised on the online gallery so we can browse easily and find specific instances during the day. She did a brilliant job and was the perfect person to photograph our big day. I couldn't recommend her highly enough to any couple looking to book a fantastic photographer for their wedding. Thank you Julie! xxx More...

Thank you so much, we could recommend you more.
Julie's photo's are excellent, she captured the feeling and essence of our day perfectly with lovely touches that we hadn't appreciated on the day. Her style was very unobtrusive and we never noticed she was there and yet she seemed to capture every moment. More...

Following on from my client's wedding I wanted to thank you for photographing their day.

Not only were you thoroughly professional during the booking process but your calm and professional manner on the day shone through. Also, a huge thank you for staying late to capture the extra evening shots.

On the day, you arrived at the time we’d discussed which took away my stress and just got straight on with the getting ready and set up shots as per the brief we had discussed. It was wonderful for me to not have to worry about you meaning I could spend my time focusing on the other elements of set up for the wedding reception. As you know, taking a job away from the wedding planner to make my life easier means the world so thank you for this!

The sneak peak images you have sent are gorgeous and truly reflect the style of C&A. I can’t wait to see what else is coming!

I very much hope to work with you again.

We wanted a low key wedding with some natural photos. We explained our requirements to Julie and she gave us exactly what we asked for. Julie struck the perfect balance between casual and professional. The photos are absolutely wonderful and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Julie! Thank you again. More...

Q&As

For a portrait, it's a connection with the viewer that's hard to quantify. A good picture should evoke some kind of response within milliseconds. My portrait sessions are fluid, not static, and in a way, shooting between the moments and quickly seems to get the result!

A great wedding picture is timeless, and for me, a great documentary moment can transport you back to your wedding day. A great wedding picture also has meaning to the owner of that picture. It's not necessarily about what the picture is of, but rather how it makes you feel.

In my commercial work, especially when shooting an event, I always try and capture the buzz and atmosphere of what is sometimes a very corporate event. One client even described my images as having the ability to "make what could be a dry event look quite sexy". I would consider that to be good feedback! The images should answer the questions: is my company approachable? Will these images make people engage with my company?

What are you trying to achieve with the project? What are your goals? Who are you trying to connect with?

For weddings, I'd like to know how you'd like your day to be remembered. Most of the couples who book me say "fun and relaxed", "chilled out and easygoing".

I was just thinking about this the other day! First and foremost, it has got to be interacting with people, some of whom I would never have met otherwise, and being able to solve a problem for them, whether that be gaining new business, looking great in front of the camera or documenting a wedding day with the minimum of fuss. I've been doing this for over twelve years full-time, and each job has come with its own challenges, which I relish!

My parents always worked for themselves and I think that must have rubbed onto me. I helped in our family business starting when I was just 12, totally unprompted or forced. That was probably the seed that was planted, then blossomed much later when I started a photography business. Working as a photographer has never been an easy road in any decade in the past, but I had a belief in my myself that I could do it. I've learned more about myself and what motivates us as humans than anything else. I've always been told that I was good at taking pictures, so working on that skill, and combined with an understanding of providing great customer service came together to form my business.

By looking at my portfolio, I hope that you feel that I have a creative talent. I'm easy to work with and listen to what my clients want or hope to achieve with their images. It's not just about taking pictures, it's about working together in helping you reach a goal, whether that's for personal branding or having fab pictures to document your wedding.
