How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?
I believe that nutrition is the foundation of health and wellbeing. No matter the effort you are putting into exercise, studying, or personal development, if your nutrition is lacking you will not reach your full potential in other areas of your life.
What do you love most about your job?
I absolutely love seeing clients for their follow up appointments and hearing about how great they feel and how much their physical health has improved. I love seeing their relationship with food change so they are appreciating and enjoying food that really nourishes them.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Up until my 30's I was perpetually exhausted and managed to catch any illness that entered my orbit. GP tests were always fine, but I felt lethargic and not quite right most of the time. It's fair to say my health and wellbeing reflected my effort on nutrition and lifestyle - plenty of junk food, crash diets and definitely no exercise!
Then motherhood happened and I learned that my oldest son had autism. Being a massive geek, I researched all I could to learn how I could support my beautiful boy. I was amazed to learn how nutrition could have such a big impact on his autism symptoms, and the health and wellbeing of the rest of my family.
Changes to my own diet and lifestyle completely transformed my health. I stopped feeling lethargic and run down. Instead I was motivated, had enough energy and was very rarely sick. I developed an appreciation (sometimes love - it depends on which day you ask!) for the gym, and even started taking part in events. I have sprint triathlons, and various distance runs including marathon under my belt. I am currently training for Hyrox. My old PE teachers would spit their tea out at this - I was not sporty at school!
It wasn't straight forward though. The volume of information was overwhelming and often conflicting, or quick fix solutions that were too extreme to stick to. But I now loved this subject and knew I wanted to help others with their own health challenges.
