" I wanted to change my garage in to a dog grooming parlour for my daughter, but was not sure if this would be possible.
I first spoke to John on the phone who was very friendly and supportive. John then visited me and had some really good ideas if how to utilize the space and keep costs down as well. I was quite anxious at times waiting on news about planning permission etc, however John was always quick at getting back to me to answer any questions I put to him. I contacted John Webster to design a garage on my property. I had never done any building work before and didn't know anything about the process required for obtaining planning permission. However, John was great at explaining everything I needed to do on our initial call and on the site visit. He was always on time for appointments, returned my calls quickly and if I emailed him any questions he always got back to me promptly ( almost instantly or by the following day latest). John gave me an estimated time scale on when I would get, the drawing, planning permissions and a building warrant approved. In the end, I would say John had it all done for me at least 2 months ahead of schedule. I would recommend John as he was professional, friendly and easy to interact with. How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
A bungalow loft conversion is perhaps the easiest to do in terms of complying with fire safety regulations (Building standards) which will be reflected in the cost of the conversion.
A loft conversion to a two-storey house is a little more involved, appropriate levels of fire separation must be maintained between the two properties (semi-detached), fire protection will also be required to allow a safe passage out of the building for the occupants of the loft, in practical terms this means extra protection to the first-floor ceiling and fitting fire doors.
Top floor tenement loft conversions are more complex and require a high level of fire protection such as a sprinkler system if we combine this with working at such height it makes this type of conversion challenging, but depending on what space is available for conversion can still be a worthwhile project.

The consequence of inadequate upfront research of needs and options is like building a house on bad foundations. The foundations are the most important part of the whole house because everything is built on top.
Its very expensive to change the foundations once you have started to build on top of them. But very easy to change them if they are simply lines on a plan. So we spend a little more time on the research than most other firms who rush their clients into the design phase.
You cannot not rush this step. It only causes cost over runs later if we take short cuts and don’t establish solid foundations.
