Jay has for many years successfully maintained our family's computers, but recently I was very worried when my rather ancient computer suddenly failed with a slight smell of burning! I hadn't managed to back up any of my files which included irreplaceable precious photos of a family wedding and our grandson. Jay was cautiously optimistic, diagnosing the problem on the evidence I provided over the phone. What do you love most about your job?
I enjoy helping my clients with their computing issues and I take great satisfaction in getting to the bottom of technical problems. Resolving a seemingly intractable problem and knowing that I've provided a great customer experience are two things that please me, and it's fantastic to have so many returning customers as it provides tangible feedback that I'm providing a valuable service.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I understand the frustration felt when your computer stops working, and I have spent many years developing my technical skills to be able to resolve a whole range of issues. In work environments people usually have technical support on the end of the phone, but there seemed to be a lack of accessible technical support for individuals and small businesses, which is what inspired me to start Jay Matthew Computers.
