What do you love most about your job?
What do I 'love' the 'most'? Now that's a difficult question because as the Founder of Hectic People I love employment law, I love turning around conflict, I love developing people, I love designing HR agendas for SMEs, I love showing the value of HR beyond record management... But the sweet spot is sharing that 'moment' with my clients. The moment when all the people plans, the tasks and the conversation just align and it feels authentic. Catching that moment when my client feels harmonised is the best feeling, because people are hectic!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Covid happened and my employer had liquidated. So I had some time to think about the next move, and remember speaking to an old colleague about wanting to apply ALL my experience in the next job and not be limited by a description. I wanted the SME culture 'roll your sleeves up' and 'get stuck in'. That colleague made an introduction a few weeks later, and after a couple of hours chatting to this inspirational person who had worked with some amazing brands, well.. they became my shareholder that day and Hectic People was born. So you could say good people encouraged me to take the leap!
Why should our clients choose you?
Our focus is on working through HR needs with SMEs in the best possible way for them. What does that look like? It looks like being able to save time on HR tasks, as well as the emotional baggage that can come with dealing with people. This means flexible contracts that allow businesses to work with us when and as needed; be that pay per use for ad hoc or ongoing requirements, through to more routine work that may be on a retained payment plan. We have CIPD qualified consultants for employment law advice, and professional indemnity up to £5m.
