Coaching sessions with David were a great investment. At cross roads and totally confused, David guided me with empathy and practical advice. With his experience, he identified exactly what the issues were from the beginning. We worked through these in a pragmatic and way to the point where I am now in a completely different position - much better placed to achieve what I want after only a few sessions. I don't think I could have done this without his honesty and guidance. He will be the person I will go back to time and time again, I am sure of it. More...

David has the unique ability to facilitate deeper thinking during coaching sessions. He encouraged me to reconsider what I truly aspired to and to confront the things that were holding me back. The sessions helped me to take accountability for previously learned behaviours that stopped me from reaching my goals. David also helped me to look at situations with a fresh perspective, enabling me to move forward. I would love to work with David again and can highly recommend him as a coach. More...

I had great pleasure working with David Roche who is a very talented, professional and success-driven coach. With his results-driven style,
I knew David was the perfect coach for me as I wanted to increase productivity to achieve my goals.
David was extremely professional during all sessions making me feel comfortable in opening up and he listened to me with no judgment. David’s incisive and challenging questioning got me to take ownership and accountability for my way forward.
Throughout the coaching relationship, David believed in my abilities and empowered me to move forward to achieve the success I’ve been looking for.
I would highly recommend David to anyone who is looking for a successful coach.

David is a font of fresh ideas. The good thing about that is that he passes all those ideas onto you, the even better thing about that is that he gets you coming up with fresh ideas of your own. After a few sessions, I found that I was approaching the same old issues with new perspectives, and plenty of new solutions. Crucially for me, I feel as if I have a much firmer grasp of where to take my business, and, as a storyteller, I can’t wait to see what happens next… More...

Q&As

I love being able to use my experience and knowledge to help others to be the best that they can be. I studied Psychology at Durham University many years ago and spent my career building successful teams that delivered results for the company and, in turn, for themselves and their careers. Coaching and mentoring has helped complete the circle and I get a lot of satisfactions from the results of others.

I have run my own consultancy business for a few years since leaving my corporate career in the commercial world. I now balance being a Chair for some publishing related companies, such as London Book Fair and New Writing North, with some lecturing at NFTS and occasional consulting projects. I originally enrolled in coaching training in order to be a better NED and Chair - the basic skills of listening, supporting, and challenging help the transition from Exec to Non-Exec roles. I started a complementary coaching and mentoring business to fit in with my other roles and I now have a few select clients that I work with.

I offer a unique blend of coaching and mentoring that utilises both my professional coaching qualification and my 28 years as a board director and CEO/Chair in both the commercial and not for profit sectors. The combination is bespoke to the needs and wishes of each individual client. I specialise in first-time CEOs and MDs which is where I most benefitted from coaching in my career - it's lonely at the top and a wise - and independent - sounding board is critical to making a success at this level. Take a look at my website at https://greyareacoaching.com to find out more and to see more reviews from satisfied clients.

Yes, I have a professional Zoom licence and find this a satisfactory way to conduct sessions.

As most sessions are remote this is not an issue. Where I see clients face to face I am happy to complete a lateral flow test in advance and wear a mask if necessary.
