What do you love most about your job?
No two days are the same — that’s what I love most. One day I’m wiring up sockets in a zoo with meerkats watching me work, the next I’m squeezed into a cupboard under the stairs swapping out a fuse board. It keeps things interesting, and I genuinely enjoy the variety, the problem-solving, and meeting all sorts of people along the way.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After years of working for other firms, I realised two things: one, I cared more about the quality of work than some of the bosses did — and two, I was already doing everything except signing the payslips. So I decided to do things properly and start my own business. Grant’s Electrical Solutions Ltd was born out of a desire to raise the bar, deliver work I’m proud to put my name on, and maybe one day take a holiday without asking permission.

Most of our work needs to be carried out on-site, but we do offer remote support for certain things — like helping clients plan electrical layouts, providing estimates from plans or photos, and offering advice on compliance or troubleshooting. If you’re unsure whether we can assist remotely, just ask — if we can help, we will.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We follow all current government and industry guidelines to keep our clients safe. This includes maintaining clean tools and equipment, using hand sanitiser before and after entering properties, keeping a safe distance where possible, and wearing masks in enclosed or vulnerable environments when appropriate. Your safety — and ours — is always a priority.
