Gb roofng and sons

Regret getting these guys for a new roof I chose them as they could start straight away I also regret not getting other quotes. .....I usually do.
I was having solar panels fitted and needed the job completing quickly.
After the roof was finished the solar panel roofer guy picked their work to pieces.
Cowboys he said and he was right.
He pointed out that the building regulations stipulate every batten should be nailed to every rafter. GB Roofing only nailed every third batten
Also each tile should now be nailed securely.
They didn't secure any tiles.
The lead work around the chimney was shoddy and not watertight.
A few days after they finished the roof a tile fell off and narrowly missed our motorhome.
Over all a complete disaster.

Be careful about these builders exploiting you financially as I have experienced.
Initially they came to clean gutters for a bargain price of £40 and in the end my partner and I were persuaded it would be in our best interests to have a chimney repointed and roof tiles repaired and some eaves inserted under tiles to prevent nesting birds for a total cost of £2300.
Having no idea of the usual costs of such work but blown away by Richard Hunter’s charm and apparent good will, my partner and I agreed to the price and work resumed. A few hours later we realised from online research that the cost of the work was “way over” but at that point I felt reluctantly I was obliged to pay the agreed cost
At the end of the job Richard H asked for immediate payment by online bank transfer. Only having a telephone banking account and my bank having closed business for the day I couldn’t pay as requested. There was a heated exchange which resulted in a neighbour calling the police and when they arrived thing calmed down and it was agreed I would pay in the morning.
A day later another builder came and said he would have charged less than half the GB builders price but reckoned that the work they had done was OK
Motto for me was always get a number of quotes for roofing jobs beforehand and avoid GB builders in future.

I am very annoyed and disappointed in Richard GB ROOFING & Sons who owns this business. I was given an invoice and paid for work which was overpriced and waiting on further work to be completed that I had been promised. Work carried out on 24/1/25 to fix a leak Whilst Brian was up on the roof Richard the boss tells me my chimney and roof needs pointing to prevent further damage .
He then said the weather is particularly bad that day with winds so they would come back to fix the 5-6 roof tiles and paint the fascia that I had also requested all in the price. I made the mistake of trusting his word as he was so convincing. How wrong I was he was only interested in getting over £1k and then disappeared!. I have made several phone calls to him always same story yes it will be done Tuesday,weekend that was 4 weeks ago. He now puts the phone down when he knows who the caller is. He has made every excuse going to not complete the work promised now he has my money.
I do not dispute that the lads that work for him are good at what they do but he is a Shark and only interested in the next job and money.
People need to know who they are dealing with regarding this dishonest man. I would not recommend him at all.
He has several teams working shame they can't strike out on their own without this dishonest man leading them and getting a reputation !
I agree with the previous review by Claire who was always shafted by this firm and leader Richard.!! Do not trust him. The contract/ invoice is nor worth the paper it is written on,also never received an e-mailed invoice i was promised for money spent. Very unprofessional company,if you have hired them do not expect them to return if you have a fault with their work!
You will end up paying again to somebody else to fix the problem!
If I could rate 0 for the disgusting way I have been treated i would! More...

Quick response and did a good job. Agreed price verbally at start of job but tried to obtain a higher price on completion.

They fixed the problem, also replaced 2 broken tiles.
