Having a dress made for the first time and for such an important event as out daughters wedding was a bit daunting. As soon as I met Mette and her team, I felt really at ease. Mette listened carefully to what I thought I needed and was immediately in tune with my ideas. Her confidence gave me confidence and the result was a beautiful dress which I felt completely comfortable in and so enjoyed wearing. I am an older bride and was nervous about having a dress that was my style and age appropriate bridal. I had ideas which Mette built on and added her own to create something I felt a million dollars in on the day. So so many compliments on the day. Mette is the loveliest person and truly a master of her craft. After listening to my laundry list of things I didn't like, it only took her a few minutes to create my dream dress. Nothing was too much for her even if what we were trying to create was a new concept for her. Mette is so quick to respond to any queries I had and kept me informed the whole way through. My dress turned out so much better than I had ever thought it would be and I felt like a total queen all day. I loved it so much I'm having it shorted into a party dress and I can't wait to wear it for many years to come. Mette is super friendly and helpful! She was really responsive in relation to email queries, particularly in relation to the initial appointment (I had lots of questions! ) The online booking system is really easy to use and makes it so simple to change appointment times. The jacket and trousers that Mette made for my wedding absolutely SURPASSED my expectations! I felt like a billion dollars, got loads of compliments and the jacket in particular will last a lifetime and is a garment I am utterly in love with and can't wait to wear it with all kinds of different looks. Amazing service! Ordered at 11.30am then received at 2.30pm the next day! Mette rung me to say the turtle print was sold out so I chose the seahorse print instead. I didnt realise it was made from scratch! Probably super simple compared with her usual wedding dresses! Check you are OK with sizing before you buy, Mette even made it a little longer for me. Have just received my changing towel/beach poncho (octopus print) and I'm so delighted. I asked Mette and her team to create a custom wedding outfit for me that combined the traditional wear of my home country with the Western style of wedding dress and she did such a wonderful job! It was the perfect coming together of the two cultures I'm part of that I had been envisioning in my head and I was blown away by how perfectly she had captured the concept. The quality of her work is incredibly high as well as very reasonably priced. Mette is so talented and an absolute delight to work with. When I first visited her pre-pandemic with my sister and mum she had so many great ideas and was really thoughtful about our budget and about creating a look that suited me and our venue/style. Twice I've ordered items from their online shop - firstly some masks during lockdown which arrived promptly and were beautifully made, and today I could jump for joy at getting my beach poncho/changing towel - now secure in the fact I can go on holiday this summer and actually get changed on the beach without the need to have 8 arms and a towel the size of a small tent to stop me embarrassing myself. I also treated myself to 2 x Dnipro children charity bags. Once again beautifully made, and so like Mette to not only produce something gorgeous but also then give all the proceeds to a worthy cause. One of my favourite things about my wedding was getting my wedding dress from Mette. After visiting a few wedding dress shops, I couldn’t find a dress that was “the one”. I came to Mette with ideas of features I really liked in wedding dresses. Mette and her team were able to take all my ideas on board and create my dream dress. There was something quite magical about describing your ideas, picking the exact fabric and details that you liked and then seeing your dress made personally for you! Mette can work to different budgets and I was able to get a dress that I loved for a similar price to ones I’d initially looked at. I’ll miss popping into Mette’s shop for dress appointments! I can’t recommend Mette highly enough. I initially had an idea of the sort of jumpsuit I would like to wear for my wedding and Mette transformed this into reality! She took time to draw out her ideas and showed me different materials so that I could choose my favourite. The fittings were very relaxed and enjoyable to go to. I’m not normally one for dressing up, but I looked forward to going to my fittings as she put me at ease straight away. Where do I begin to describe my experience with Mette? When I decided that I wished to introduce colour into my dress, I realised that I was unlikely to find what I wanted “off the peg”, so opting for a bespoke dress was really the only way to go. Freja Designer Dressmaking was the first – and only – place I looked at. From the very first time we met, I knew immediately that I had made the correct choice in approaching Mette to create my wedding dress. She is warm, welcoming, funny and very enthusiastic. I set off for my first meeting with her, armed with a collection of photos of dresses which had various individual elements which I wanted to include in my own dress. We discussed at length what would work well to create the look I wanted, looked at various fabrics, lace overlay, applique details… and how we might introduce the aquamarine colour I wanted in the dress. She sketched it all out so I got my very first impression of how it might look. We had a gap for a few months whilst I set about trying to lose a little weight, which I thankfully achieved, and then Mette got to work in earnest in creating the dress. Each fitting was an absolute joy, as I saw the dress taking shape. Mette and her amazing seamstress, Kasia, coped admirably with a number of adjustments to the original plan – as some of my body insecurities bubbled to the surface – but in the end, it all came together perfectly… and I was presented with the beautiful and unique wedding dress that I had desired. Some people may feel that a bespoke wedding dress is extravagant – and indeed the sky is the limit if you want it to be – but I felt that my dress was worth every penny, not least because of the exceptional care which accompanies the skills and talent of Mette and her team. As a client, Mette will treat you as if you are the most important person in the world and it matters to her that every client is delighted with what she creates for them. So, you are not only paying for the wedding dress of your dreams, you are enjoying a unique and very special experience… and making a fabulous new friend. Thank you Mette and Kasia, for everything. Mette was welcoming from the first phone call to enquire about my daughter’s ball dress. She listened and discussed ideas and did sketches and then we went for fittings to see the idea come together. Mette and the lovely lady who sews with her delivered exactly what my daughter (and her Gran) wanted. I also know that this fully bespoke dress, with millimetre perfect fit cost less than the off the peg dresses bought by some of her friends. I worked with Freja for about a year, to create my gorgeous white and pink mermaid dress - definitely not something supplied by regular wedding dress shops! I loved my whole experience with Mette when making my dress. I turned up early January on my own with absolutely no idea what I was looking for, and within about 30 minutes we we're trying on skirts, tops and talking about my plans for the big day itself. I felt so comfortable around Mette. She's easy to work with, listened to all of my good (and not so good) ideas and I ended up with four mix and match pieces that I absolutely adore.
